Such a proud moment to be part of last night’s webinar on Building Leadership Capacity Across Global Oncology, and to sit on a panel alongside my mentor, Dr. Meredith Giuliani, as well as global leaders from TATA Memorial in India, AC Camargo in Brazil, and UHN in Toronto Canada.

This conversation is deeply relevant as we move toward 2030, where the global cancer burden is expected to rise dramatically. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, cancer incidence worldwide is projected to reach ~30 million new cases by 2040 — a ~60% increase from 2020. Much of this surge will already be evident by 2030.

‼️Even more crucial: about 70% of all cancer cases will occur in low- to middle-income countries, including the Philippines, where disparities in access, workforce, and resources remain significant.‼️

Sessions like this remind me that leadership in oncology is not just about expertise — it’s about collaboration, system-building, and creating pathways so patients everywhere receive safe, equitable, and compassionate cancer care.

Proud to represent the Philippines in this global dialogue. 🇵🇭

Some lung cancer patients ask if CyberKnife® can help, especially when tumors move with breathing or sit close to sensitive areas. It can — and in certain carefully selected cases of early Stage IV disease or lung metastases, it may also be an option to control specific spots of cancer.

Every case is different, and it always starts with a conversation about what’s safest and best for each patient.

A New Hope for Healing Lung Cancer.

With advanced CyberKnife® treatment, lung cancer can be treated with precision — even tumors near critical organs or those that move as you breathe.

Because every breath is a story of hope.

Through CyberKnife®, we help patients heal with precision and compassion.

At Asian Hospital and Medical Center, we bring Precise. Efficient. Painless. Real-time. cancer care closer to you.

Kudos to ASTRO for calling this out.

“Depicting a proven, lifesaving therapy in such sensationalized terms is shown to spread fear and misinformation that can deter patients from appropriate care and lead to worse outcomes from avoiding treatment. That mistrust is not abstract; it causes real harm to people facing a life-threatening disease when they are most vulnerable.”

The Philippine Society of Oncologists Annual Convention for 2025 (Best of ASCO 2025) was a success! Honored to be part of the organizing committee as Chair for the MDT Cup.

I am also deeply grateful to serve this coming year as Vice President of the Philippine Society of Oncologists. This badge is more than a symbol — it represents the trust, responsibility, and collective hope entrusted to me by colleagues and mentors.

With optimism in my heart, I look forward to working together with our community in advancing cancer care for the Filipino patients, supporting them and their families, and shaping a future filled with compassion, innovation, and collaboration.

Found the paper very useful in shedding light about the benefit of post mastectomy RT(PMRT) in the emergence of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and targeted therapy.

Additionally, the authors mentioned that T1-T2N0 cases(but with "soft" indications like young age, LVSI, TNBC, high grade, central/medial tumors) may benefit from RT (low level evidence but with strong recommendation by breast RT experts)

Another is for T3N0 patients, PMRT is conditional and there is an option to treat the chest wall alone especially with good clinicopathologic features.

Of note, the authors are to publish a focused update which takes NSABP B51 and suprema trial into consideration.

Access the paper and check out the tables now (especially the different scenarios post neoadj chemo), this is gold!

New today in : Joint guideline from ASTRO, ASCO & SSO on post-mastectomy radiation therapy for patients with breast cancer. Updated recommendations cover indications, dosing, fractionation & multidisciplinary techniques.
