Ayon kay Health Secretary Ted Herbosa noong Martes, Hunyo 3, ang pinakabatang naitalang kaso ay isang 12-anyos na babae mula sa Palawan na nahawaan ng HIV sa pamamagitan ng s3xval in*******se.

Sinabi naman ni DOH Spokesperson Albert Domingo, isa sa mga dahilan ng pagtaas ng kaso ay ang pagiging mas accessible ng paghahanap ng s3xual partner sa social media at mga dating apps.

Sa unang quarter ng 2025, mahigit 5,000 bagong kaso ng HIV na ang naitala—katumbas ng 56 bagong kaso kada araw na mas mataas kumpara sa 3,400 kaso sa parehong panahon noong 2024.

Samantala, nagbabala ang DOH na ang Pilipinas ang may pinakamataas na bilang ng bagong kaso ng HIV sa buong Western Pacific Region kung saan karamihan sa mga apektado ay ang mga kabataan.
