🕊️ With heavy hearts, the Bicol Medical Center community extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗥. 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, who passed away last February 19, 2026.

Abegail was a dedicated and vital member of the 𝗕𝗠𝗖 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲. Her commitment to her work and her presence will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of working alongside her.

BMC Cardiac Center Head 𝗗𝗿. 𝗘𝗹𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗻, a pediatric cardiologist, served as a resource person at the Ugnayan sa PIA Camarines Sur, Radyo Pilipinas Program today where she discussed comprehensive cardiovascular wellness, including how early detection is key to preventing serious heart complications and the specialized services available at BMC.

𝗕𝗠𝗖 𝗘𝗡𝗧-𝗛𝗡𝗦 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹’𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆

Fresh from her endoscopic ear surgery fellowship training at Ota General Hospital (an affiliate of The Jikei University School of Medicine) in Kanagawa, Japan, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘆 performed her 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿.

The case involved a 15-year-old who had moderate hearing loss in his left ear due to otosclerosis (stiffening of the ossicles/bones for hearing).

The operation entailed a transcanal approach and repair of the defects. After the surgery, due to it being minimally invasive, the patient experienced a faster recovery and was discharged after the first postoperative day without complications.

This procedure is a first for Bicol Medical Center and in the Bicol region.

Elements of the 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 (𝗔𝗗𝗙), 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘆, conducted a site visit to our institution yesterday, February 18, 2026, in preparation for their forthcoming interoperability exercise with Philippine forces.

The delegation was led by 𝗟𝘁. 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 and 𝗟𝘁. 𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘆 and was accompanied by 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝘁. 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹, 9th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, based in Pili, Camarines Sur, along with her team.

During the visit, they toured several key areas of Bicol Medical Center, including the Main Emergency Room (ER), Cardiac Center, ICU Complex, Diagnostic Center, Regional Orthopedic Center, Trauma Center, Burn Unit, Pay Ward, Hospital Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), and the Physical Rehabilitation Department.
