MYOFASCIAL PAIN SYNDROME
Myofascial pain syndrome, or myofascitis, commonly abbreviated as MPS, is a chronic muscle pain condition characterized by trigger points, sensitive areas within the muscle that can cause localized pain and referred pain in other body areas.
In MPS, tight bands or knots can develop within these muscles, which are called myofascial trigger points. These trigger points become hypersensitive and cause pain, not just in the specific spot but sometimes in seemingly unrelated areas of the body.
Primary Symptoms of MPS:
✓⃝ Muscle pain & tenderness
✓⃝ Muscle stiffness & tension
✓⃝ Reduce range of motion
✓⃝ Fatigue
What triggers MPS or what causes MPS pain?

! Poor posture and body mechanics
! Trauma or injury
! Emotional stress
! Insufficient sleep
Preventing Myofascial Pain Syndrome:
✓ Maintaining good posture
✓ Regular stretching and exercise
✓ Avoiding repetitive movements
✓ Managing stress
✓ Ergonomic adjustments

How is myofascial pain syndrome treated?
The treatment for myofascial pain syndrome typically involves a multi-faceted approach, including a combination of manual therapies, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
🏋🏽 Physical Therapy ---- play an important role in MPS management and treatment of muscle injury. They may utilize various modalities like massage therapy, trigger point therapy, and ultrasound to improve affected muscle function and reduce trigger point sensitivity.
