Pterygium, or Surfer’s eye, is a raised, fleshy, triangular-shaped growth that starts in a corner of the eye.

While it’s more common in adults, yes, kids can develop pterygia.

Long term exposure to UV light is the main cause. It may not cause symptoms but sometimes, it can irritate the eye, and if it grows too much, it can affect your vision.

Long-term follow-up may be necessary to monitor its growth. It can be managed with artificial tears, eye protection, and in some cases, surgery to remove the growth, early detection is key 👀
