Dr. Kimberly Mae Sanchez was featured in SunStar Cebu for raising awareness about the rising HIV cases in Cebu. She also works with us at the clinic every Saturday. It’s good to see efforts like this that help inform more people about the importance of early testing and education. Let us support her advocacy and help spread awareness, especially among the youth. 🙏
A total of 110 new HIV cases were recorded in Cebu City during the first quarter of 2025, according to Dr. Kimberly Mae Sanchez, Social Hygiene Physician of the Cebu City Health Department (CCHD), during a news forum on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Sanchez raised concern over the continued rise in cases, especially as most of the newly diagnosed patients fall within the 15 to 34-year-old age group.
Nationwide, the Department of Health recorded 5,101 new HIV cases since January 2025. To date, the DOH has documented a total of 148,831 cases since January 1984.
The CCHD is urging increased awareness, early testing, and education to address the growing trend among youth and young adults. | via JPS
