🦠 Rabies: What You Need to Know 🐕

What is Rabies?
Rabies is a deadly virus that attacks the central nervous system. It is almost always fatal once symptoms appear—but it is 100% preventable!

How is Rabies Transmitted?
🔸 Through the bite or scratch of an infected animal
🔸 Most commonly spread by dogs, but also found in bats, cats, and wild animals
🔸 The virus is present in saliva

Signs of Rabies in Animals:
⚠️ Sudden aggression
⚠️ Excessive drooling or foaming at the mouth
⚠️ Paralysis or staggering
⚠️ Fear of water (hydrophobia)

Symptoms in Humans:
🧠 Fever, headache
😨 Anxiety, confusion
💧 Difficulty swallowing or hydrophobia
💀 Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal

What to Do After an Animal Bite:
1. Wash the wound with soap and water for 15 minutes.
2. Seek medical help immediately.
3. Get post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) ASAP or within 24 hours.
4. Observe the animal (if possible) for 14 days.

Prevention Tips:
✅ Vaccinate your pets
✅ Avoid touching stray or wild animals
✅ Educate children on animal safety
✅ Report stray or aggressive animals to authorities
✅ Have a Pre Exposure Prophylaxis shot.
