Bringing Health Behind Bars 🤝🩺

The Provincial Health Office - Biliran, in partnership with the Biliran Provincial Hospital, BJMP and DOH, successfully conducted a Kalusugan Caravan for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the BJMP - Naval District Jail on August 7, 2025.

This health outreach activity provided essential medical services including:
✔️ General medical consultation & treatment
✔️ Skin consultation (Kilatis Kutis)
✔️ Immunization (Pneumococcal Vaccine)
✔️ Urinalysis, Random Blood Sugar testing, TB & HIV screening
✔️ Health education lectures on Hygiene, Renal Health, TB, Leprosy and STI-HIV prevention
✔️ Enrollment to the Gabay Kalusugan Program for hypertensive and diabetic patients
✔️ Distribution of essential medicines, hygiene kits and food packs

Together, we strive to uphold the right to health for all, including those behind bars. 🧡

‼️DOH: MAG-INGAT SA PANGANIB NG KURYENTE SA BAHA‼️

Mapanganib na malubog sa tubig na may live wire o saksakan, maging ang
madikit sa mga nakasaksak na appliances na nabasa o nalubog sa tubig. Maaari itong magdulot ng electical shock o pagkakuryente.

Payo ng DOH, iwasang malubog sa baha lalo na kung maaaring may electrical source na nakalubog dito. Patayin ang main switch ng kuryente o circuit breaker.

Anong maaring mangyari sa katawan kapag nakuryente?
🫀Cardiac Arrest - o paghinto ng puso dahil sa kuryente o electrical current

🫁Respiratory Arrest - dulot ng pagkaparalisa ng mga muscles na tumutulong sa paghinga

🧠Internal Organ Damage - maaaring mabilis na maapektuhan ng kuryente ang utak, bato at atay

🫲 Pagkasunog ng balat

🚨Maaaring magsagawa ng CPR sa isang taong nakuryente basta’t masigurong ligtas na ang kapaligiran. Sundin ang S.A.G.I.P. para sa mga hakbang.

Provincial Health Office Joins 30th PCR Month Celebration Through Serbisyo Caravan

As part of its commitment to community health and well-being, the Provincial Health Office provided free services such as HIV testing, Random Blood Sugar (RBS) testing, and urinalysis. These services were extended to PNP personnel, their families, and other beneficiaries present at the event.

This initiative also reflects the continued partnership between the Provincial Health Office and the Philippine National Police in promoting health and wellness among uniformed personnel and the wider community.

DROWNING IS PREVENTABLE

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Caibiran through the Caibiran Municipal Health Office and the Caibiran Rescue Emergency Service (CaRES) spearheaded the Beat the Heat: Drowning Prevention for a Healthy Pilipinas Campaign in coordination with the Department of Health, Provincial Health Office, the Bureau of Fire Protection - Caibiran Municipal Fire Station. The activity was conducted in San Bernardo Swimming Pool, Brgy. Manlabang, Caibiran, Biliran.

The event emphasized the crucial role of the community in promoting water safety and drowning prevention, underscoring the importance of vigilance, preparedness, and education in safeguarding lives near bodies of water, particularly highlighting the vulnerability of children.

The campaign gathered school children, parents, resort operators, Day Care teachers, Brgy. Tanods Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), the Caibiran Tourism Office, and both barangay and municipal officials for a comprehensive drowning prevention program.

Activities included a health talk on understanding drowning risks and prevention strategies, water safety measures, training on basic life support and first aid for drowning victims, and swimming lessons.

As part of its commitment to public health, the Provincial Health Office of Biliran continues to advocate for sustained efforts in drowning prevention and water safety education to protect communities—especially children—from preventable water-related incidents.

Sa panahon ngayon, ang HIV ay kayang-kaya nang maiwasan at ma-kontrol.

✅ Gumamit ng proteksyon gaya ng condom, lubricant, at PrEP.
✅ Gawing normal at regular ang pagpapa-HIV test.
✅ Sumunod sa tamang gamutan o antiretroviral therapy.

HIV is not a death sentence! Sa ating laban kontra HIV at AIDS, may pag-asa – dahil Bawat Buhay Mahalaga. 💖
