Remove the Real Offenders, Not the Reformers
Mr. President, the Filipino people are watching. And they are not blind.
The P1.2 billion collapse of the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Bridge in Isabela is not just a structural failure—it is a moral failure. It is a monument to negligence, bloated budgets, and the impunity of officials who remain untouched despite glaring anomalies
Yet while the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shields its own, you have removed Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire—a career official whose calm, science-based leadership guided our nation through the darkest days of the pandemic
This is not reform. This is regression.
Vergeire’s removal, shrouded in silence and devoid of due process, has demoralized the very health professionals who stood by the nation when it mattered most.
Fifty-six medical organizations have spoken: her exit undermines institutional stability and public trust
Meanwhile, DPWH officials linked to ghost projects and a bridge collapse that injured civilians remain in power, uninvestigated, and unrepentant
Mr. President, you said it yourself: “Shame on you” to those who pocketed public funds meant for flood control
Let that shame be followed by action.
Remove the officials who approved defective infrastructure. Investigate those who enriched themselves while bridges fell and floodwaters rose. Let the axe fall where the rot lies—not on those who upheld integrity and competence.
The people deserve accountability, not scapegoats. They deserve leaders who protect—not punish—the public servants who serve with honor.

The Department of Health has betrayed the spirit of the Universal Health Care Act and misled both President Marcos and the Filipino people.
By limiting the ‘No Balance Billing’ policy to just 87 DOH-run hospitals, while excluding premier GOCC institutions like the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center, and Children’s Medical Center, they have created a dangerous illusion of equity.
These hospitals serve some of our most vulnerable and critically ill citizens—how can universal healthcare be fulfilled when they are left behind? This selective implementation is not just a technical oversight; it is a deliberate distortion of the law’s intent.
Universal healthcare must be universal in practice, not just in name. The people deserve truth, not tokenism. Accountability must begin now.

Today, on my birthday, I sit here in quiet joy—wrapped in the warmth of family, the rhythm of laughter, and the deep blessing of love that crosses oceans and generations. To be surrounded by my daughter, now a doctor, her husband Jolo, also a healer, and our little Lily—whose giggles are medicine for the soul—is a gift greater than any celebration could offer.
We journeyed to the UK not just to be with them, but to stand behind their dreams, to whisper encouragement when the days grow long, and to remind them that family is the home we carry in our hearts. Watching them thrive in their calling fills me with a quiet pride and immense gratitude.
Today isn’t just a birthday—it’s a gentle reminder of purpose, legacy, and love. Of lives we’ve touched, and lives we continue to shape simply by showing up with open hearts.
Thank you, Lord, for the grace of time, for the privilege of seeing my children rise, and for the joy of holding my granddaughter’s hand as she begins her own story. On this day, I am humbled, I am full, and I am deeply thankful.

We met in 1977 at UST as classmates in pre med and ended up as medicine batch mates , PSG brothers and bosom buddies in 1985.
During the COVID pandemic , you battled with the big C.
Watching you walk through the fire of cancer and come out not just alive—but more alive and vibrant —has been one of the most humbling and inspiring journeys I’ve ever witnessed.You didn’t just survive.
You transformed.In the face of pain, you chose purpose. In the face of fear, you chose faith.
