Latest reporting from the CDC shows this year’s flu season is the deadliest non-pandemic flu season for U.S. children. 216 children have died. This number passed last year’s flu season, which set a previous high for a non-pandemic season with 207 pediatric deaths. Even with seasonal flu activity declining since its February peak, AAP and CDC recommend everyone six months and older get vaccinated against the flu. Most excellent. Updated guidelines from DOH on masking, quarantine and isolation.

TL;DR version:

Masking is still recommended but no longer mandatory.

Hospitals can decide to keep mask mandates depending on their Infection Prevention and Control Committees.

No need to quarantine if exposed. Wear a mask for 10 days.

If infected (asymptomatic or mild), isolate for 5 days and wear a mask for 10 days.

If with moderate to severe disease, isolate for at least 10 days and ask your doctor for further advice.
