What, how to eat?
( for Chronic kidney disease, hyperkalemia, complications of hypertension with diabetes)

What is potassium?
Potassium is a mineral found in most of the foods you eat everyday. It’s also an electrolyte. Electrolytes conduct electrical impulses throughout the body. They assist in a range of essential body functions, including: blood pressure, normal water balance, muscle contractions, nerve impulses,
digestion, heart rhythm, pH balance (acidity and alkalinity).
Our body doesn’t produce potassium naturally. So, it’s important to consume the right balance of potassium-rich foods and beverages.

The imbalance of potassium consumption can lead to serious health issues
specially for the patient of CKD( chronic kidney disease) and Hyperkalemia.
Healthy kidneys maintain normal potassium levels in the body because they remove excess amounts through urine.

The recommended quantity of potassium for the patients they should take is less than 2000mg/per day.
Low potassium levels in blood is also called hypokalemia. Normal levels of potassium range from 3.5 mmol/L to 5.1 mmol/L in adults. Usually, levels under 2.5 mmol/L are considered to be very serious.

Most of the foods we intake have potassium so that we cannot avoid the potassium entirely, but we will be able to control the quantity of potassium we should take in a day as follows; for making
potassium less than 2000mg/a day.
(633mg/1 meal × 3=2000mg)
Example;
* w/rice 1 cup 100 mg
* Fish 45g 100 mg
* 2 kinds veg 200 mg
* 1 kind fruit 100mg
with 1/2 cup of milk 100 mg
