IV GLUTATHIONE is again a hot topic due to a recent video posted on social media.

Our Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) president, Dr. Jasmin Jamora, has reiterated that there is a lack of scientific studies to show the effectivity of intravenous injection of glutathione and other IV drip concoctions as whitening agents.

More importantly, the proliferation of such practices even in non-medical settings has given rise to increased safety concerns such as infections, liver and kidney problems, allergic reactions, and others.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reminds everyone that the use of IV glutathione as a whitening agent is NOT APPROVED by the agency.

Let us stick to safe, scientifically-proven, and properly physician-supervised procedures to ensure a smooth journey to healthy skin.
