🚨🚨 Parents, RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) season is here ‼️‼️
🦠🦠RSV is a virus that affects everyone. It is transmitted by infectious respiratory droplets from coughing or sneezing, or touching contaminated surfaces then touching your face, mouth, or eyes.
For some, it can be simple colds. But for others, like infants (especially those who are prematurely) and older adults, it can be LIFE THREATENING. 🏥
To avoid the virus and its spread, it is important to do the following:
✅ PROPER AND FREQUENT HANDWASHING. Do this before touching your face or holding your little ones or whenever you touched surfaces that are probably contaminated.
✅ DO NOT KISS YOUR BABIES. Or allow others to do so. Iwas muna sa kiss sa babies, ang mga ate at kuya. 😚
✅ DO NOT SHARE cups, bottles or toys that may have been contaminated with the virus since the virus can live on surfaces for several hours. 🍼🥤🪀🧸
✅ COVER YOUR COUGH OR SNEEZE. 🤧
✅ DISINFECT FREQUENTLY TOUCHED SURFACES like doorknobs, tabletops, countertops, toys, mobile phones. 🧸☎️📱🚪
✅ STAY AT HOME WHEN SICK. Even at home, please wear mask to prevent the spread. For sick adults, please wear mask whenever you are holding your babies/kids. 😷
✅ AVOID SMOKE. Babies and elderlies exposed to cigarette smoke have higher risk of SEVERE RSV INFECTION. 🚬
✅ RSV VACCINATION FOR ADULTS AGES 75 and up. Or those who are 50 years and above with chronic heart or lung disease, weak immune system, have uncontrolled diabetes and or sever obesity. Ask your doctor about RSV vaccine. 💉💉
PREVENTION IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN CURE.
It’s truly heartbreaking to see hospitalized babies , gasping for air, most of them requiring oxygen support. Please be mindful and do your part in preventing the spread. 🦠🦠🦠
