The Ormoc City Health Department proudly kicked off the celebration of World Immunization Week with the theme: “Bakuna at Proteksyon ni Baby, My Responsibility!”
The event gathered strong support from our valued partners and stakeholders, including the SP Member on Health, Pediatrician Members of Philippine Pediatric Society-Eastern Visayas Chapter, Liga ng Barangay Officers, Ormoc City Medical Society (OCMS), Red Cross, Department of Education, Ormoc PNP, Hospital Point persons, Faith-Based Organizations, Civic Society Organizations, Barangay Affairs thru City Volunteer Council, Colleges of Nursing, DOH- HRH, BHWs and BNS and Parents/Guardians.
The program opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Cecile Louise Dejano, followed by inspirational messages from the representative of Dr. Bague of the Philippine Pediatric Society and Dr. Gerry Penserga, SP Member on Health.
A timely discussion on the Immunization Program was delivered by Dr. Sharlene Ang, Pediatrician, while Program Coordinators Eunace Tinio, Ma. Aileen De Paz, and Mark Angelo Cotiangco shared important updates on the upcoming MR SIA Campaign.
One of the highlights of the activity was the vaccination of our beloved chikitings, Pentavalent, IPV, and MMR vaccines were administered to give them life-saving protection against preventable diseases.
The event also featured a Pledge of Commitment from all stakeholders, reaffirming their support for the city’s immunization efforts, followed by closing remarks from Dr. Avery Carol Bartolome.
Simultaneously, Immunization Advocacy Activities were conducted in the barangays by our active Rural Health Midwives and dedicated Human Resource for Health personnel (NDPs and RHMPPs), bringing vaccine awareness closer to every community and encouraging parents to complete their children’s immunization.
Together, we continue to build a healthier future—because Bakuna at Proteksyon ni Baby is everyone’s responsibility! 💪
