Earlier today, OSPA–Farmers’ Medical Center successfully conducted a Lay Forum in celebration of World Kidney Day at the OSPA–FMC OPD Clinic, highlighting the importance of kidney health and early medical consultation.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to the Hemodialysis Unit and the Internal Medicine Department for their invaluable support in making this activity possible. Your dedication to promoting health awareness in our community truly reflects our commitment to quality healthcare.

Special thanks to our speaker, Dr. Jenefa Canoy, for sharing her knowledge and insights on kidney health, and to our ever-supportive facilitator, Dr. Rodrigo Capahi, for guiding the program and ensuring its success. OSPA–Farmers’ Medical Center proudly renews its research collaboration with Dr. Yoshihiro Aoki, Emergency Physician at Nagasaki Harbor Medical Center and Research Associate at Nagasaki University Hospital, together with Dr. Ea Kristine Clarisse B. Tulin-Escueta, Assistant Professor at the Department of Biotechnology of Visayas State University. This partnership is further supported by the Nagasaki University School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health and Visayas State University.

This renewed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) strengthens our collaborative research on the PCR Diagnostic Assay for Snake Envenomation in Rural Health Facilities of Leyte and Southern Leyte. The study aims to improve snakebite diagnosis, surveillance, and patient management through advanced PCR techniques and multi-institutional research.

Under this partnership, OSPA–Farmers’ Medical Center will facilitate patient consultations, sample collection, and clinical data management. Visayas State University, under the guidance of Dr. Tulin-Escueta, will lead the PCR analysis and laboratory processing, while the School of Tropical Medicine and Global Health of Nagasaki University, represented by Dr. Aoki, will provide research leadership, technical expertise, and monitoring to ensure the effective implementation of the study.

This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to advancing medical research, strengthening diagnostic capacity, and improving healthcare outcomes in rural communities.

Due to current developments in the Middle East and in support of national initiatives for energy conservation, OSPA–Farmers' Medical Center (OSPA-FMC) will introduce energy-saving measures and operational adjustments starting Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

All personnel will observe a 4-day work schedule under this program. To maintain uninterrupted patient care, clinical and essential service teams will work on rotational shifts, ensuring that hospital operations continue smoothly while optimizing energy usage.

📣 Lay Forum Successfully Conducted in Celebration of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Yesterday, the Internal Medicine Department of OSPA–Farmers Medical Center successfully conducted another Lay Forum in celebration of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

The forum was held on Monday, March 9 at the OPD Clinics, providing valuable information and raising awareness about the importance of early detection, prevention, and proper management of colorectal cancer.

The discussion was delivered by Resident Physician, Dr. Patricia Tan, and was expertly moderated by Consultant, Dr. Michelle Chu. Their insights helped educate patients and attendees on maintaining digestive health and recognizing early warning signs.
