Our office successfully conducted the 20th and 21st Sessions of the Moderate Risk Program, with a total of 33 participants actively engaging in a day of learning, awareness, and community development.
The activity aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge, life skills, and overall well-being through the support of dedicated partner agencies and resource speakers:
Morning Session (AM):
🦷 Dental Health Education – Dr. Donabel Lago (CHD) provided essential information on proper oral hygiene, prevention of dental diseases, and the importance of maintaining good dental health as part of overall wellness.
🚒 Earthquake Drill – FO1 Bizela Tima Abug and FO1 Wilven Tagalog (BFP) facilitated a practical and informative drill, equipping participants with the knowledge and preparedness skills necessary to respond effectively during earthquake emergencies.
Afternoon Session (PM):
🌱 Waste Management – Elvie C. Regner (ENRO) discussed proper waste segregation, environmental responsibility, and sustainable practices that contribute to a cleaner and healthier community.
The sessions were supervised by Program Coordinator Ms. Gevs Desiongco, ensuring the smooth implementation and success of the activities.
In line with the Department’s continuing rehabilitation efforts, 14 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from Ormoc City Jail Male and Female Dormitory successfully underwent Drug Dependency Examination conducted by Dr. Avery Carol Bartolome.
Additionally, we conducted drug test screening and monitoring to for three (3) clients. This included one (1) Rehabilated Persons Who Use Drugs (RPUWDs) who have successfully complied with all necessary requirements and are now qualified to receive his Certificate of Completion, marking a significant milestone in his recovery. Meanwhile, two (2) PWUDs under regular drug test monitoring as part of ongoing support and supervision.
Further highlighting the expertise of the program, Ms. Desiongco also served as a resource speaker during the Seminar on Strengthening Mental Health, Wellness, and Drug Prevention in accordance with Republic Act No. 11036 (The Philippine Mental Health Act), conducted by the Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) in collaboration with the Christian Neighborhood Resource Child Development Center, Inc.
