Tuberculosis remains one of the leading causes of disease and death in the Philippines. Globally, we rank among the top countries with the highest number of cases—currently at number three.

This March, we were once again reminded: YES—tuberculosis is curable and preventable.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our speaker, Dr. Jesse James Tahil, Level III Internal Medicine Resident and Chief Resident, and to our esteemed expert guest, Dr. Judith Sanico, Pharmacist-Pulmonologist and Chair of the Section of Pulmonology at OSPA-FMC, for leading this meaningful lay forum.

Together, let us say: YES—WE CAN END TB! 💚

Rabies remains a prevalent zoonotic disease in the Philippines. Once symptoms develop, it is almost always fatal—but it is entirely preventable.

This March, we were once again reminded of the importance of rabies prevention, responsible pet ownership, and animal welfare.

We extend our sincere thanks to our Level II Internal Medicine resident, Dr. Marian Tarongoy-Tortugo—our go-to rabies speaker—and to our expert moderator, Dr. Larsen Omolon, Training Officer of OSPA-FMC, Department of Internal Medicine.

Let us all stay informed and work together to protect our communities and loved ones—both humans and our pet dogs. 🐶💚

Kidneys truly play a vital role in maintaining our body’s balance and overall health! 💚

A heartfelt congratulations to our Internal Medicine Resident, Dr. Jenefa Canoy, for conducting a very informative and engaging lay forum on kidney health. This activity was made even more meaningful with the support of her senior resident, Dr. Marian Tortugo-Tarongoy, and the invaluable guidance and expertise of one of Ormoc’s brilliant nephrologists, Dr. Rodrigo Capahi.

Let us all remember the 8 Golden Rules for Healthy Kidneys and take simple yet important steps to protect them everyday.
