RHU Datu Montawal successfully conducted a re-orientation and update session on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and the use of the PhilPEN Risk Assessment Form to our BHW’s and Staff. The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of health workers in the early detection, risk assessment, and management of NCDs using the standardized PhilPEN protocol.
The session began with an overview of the current burden and impact of NCDs in the Philippines, highlighting the increasing cases of hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and chronic respiratory diseases. This was followed by a refresher discussion on the importance of prevention, early diagnosis, and continuous monitoring, especially at the primary care level.
An in-depth orientation was given on the updated PhilPEN Risk Assessment Form, including changes in the form.
The activity also included open forums where participants raised concerns and clarified issues regarding implementation challenges in their respective barangays. Suggestions for improved workflow integration and data recording were gathered and will be submitted weekly for checking.
The re-orientation concluded with a commitment from all health personnel to strengthen NCD screening, referral, and education at the community level using the PhilPEN tool as a standard protocol.
