Trivia Tuesdays with Dr. Steph ✨

Yes, totally normal! Babies are born with proportionally larger heads—making up around 25% of their total body length, compared to only about 15% in adults.

Why? Because the brain develops rapidly in the early months of life. In fact, by age 2, a child’s brain is already 80% of its adult size! That’s why head size (measured during well-baby visits) is a key indicator of healthy neurological growth.

As long as the head circumference falls within the normal growth curve and isn’t rapidly increasing or showing signs of pressure (like bulging fontanelles or vomiting), there’s no need to worry.

Milestone Mondays with Dr. Steph ✨

Good observation! Usahay masamokan ta sa mga gamay na butang and we think this is one of the moments where nag over-react ato mga anak, but no! Babies do not overreact. Remember—they're just babies! How they react will always be valid and reasonable. As parents, we must not overlook their cries. Instead, we must ask ourselves what we can do to help distract them from crying.

Now, this situation is another common experience shared among mothers. This is more than just a baby being clingy. This is emotional attachment forming—and it's a beautiful thing. With this, your baby recognizes you not just as the one who feeds them but as their safe space. They recognize you as someone they can cling to. This is why being a parent requires so much emotional and mental fortitude. You need to be patient with them, especially babies.

Sometimes, milestones aren’t about what you did or what you achieved, but about how they can make you feel.

Parents, if your baby only sleeps better when you’re near, that’s not a bad habit. That’s their little heart saying, ‘I feel secure with you.’ Perhaps the cradle is not for them. Maybe it's truly being by your side that works best for them at that age.

Celebrate that. Not everyone gets to experience being a parent. It is a blessing to have them cling onto you.

Self-Care Sundays with Dr. Steph 🌸
Episode 11: “Maligo o Matulog?”

A full-time working mom once came to the clinic with her kids and asked me,
“Doc, kung tagaan ko ug 20 minutes nga libre, unsa may mas maayo—maligo o matulog?”

Syempre, we both laughed—but her face was serious. Dili ni joke. This is real life for many exhausted, full-time working parents.

She continued,
“Gikapoy na ko’g pili. Murag walay igo'ng oras para sa tanan. Imbis ganahan ko magpahuway or maglaag panagsa ba, kay di man pwede gud kay kinahanglan man gyud ko maningkamot para sa pamilya. Wa na gani koy oras maglantaw'g K-drama.”

We laughed again, because it's all too real. Then she quietly added,
“Di ko gusto magreklamo, pero usahay… kapoy na jud.”

And I told her this:
“Kung matulog lang sa imong kaya, okay ra. Kung half bath lang, okay ra pud.”

Here’s what I want to leave with you today:
You don’t need to do everything.
You don’t need the perfect self-care routine.
One small thing is enough. One small thing—for yourself—is still care.

Kape lang sa? Tulog lang gamay? Maligo gamay? Basta ikaw pud.

Fundamental Fridays with Dr. Steph
Episode 10: "Sun safety: Protect delicate skin!"

☀️ What is sun protection for babies?
Sun protection means shielding a baby’s sensitive skin from UV rays to prevent sunburn and long-term damage.

☀️ Babies under 6 months should stay in the shade and wear protective clothing. After 6 months, you can start using a small amount of baby-safe sunscreen on exposed areas. Always avoid the midday sun! 🌞

👉 Parent Tip: Hats, light long sleeves, and stroller covers are your best friends. And don’t forget hydration—extra fluids are crucial in the heat! 🌸

Tiny Tips Thursdays with Dr. Steph ✨🖐️
Episode 10: "Handwashing starts young—make it fun!"

🖐️ What is handwashing for kids?
Handwashing for kids is teaching young children to wash their hands properly to remove dirt and germs and prevent illness—a critical health habit.

🖐️ Good hygiene habits start early! Teach babies and toddlers about handwashing by making it playful: sing songs, use bubbles, and let them splash a bit.

Handwashing reduces the spread of germs and illnesses—essential for busy little explorers! 🧼🌟

👉 Parent Tip: Wash hands together before meals, after play, and after diaper changes. Show excitement ("Yay! Clean hands!") to build a positive habit they’ll carry forever.

Wellness Wednesdays with Dr. Steph 🩺
Episode 10: "To PLAY Means EXERCISE for Babies!"

🧸 Playtime isn’t just for fun — it’s critical for physical, mental, and emotional health! Rolling, reaching, crawling, stacking blocks, and clapping hands all build motor skills, balance, strength, and even social development. 🏃‍♂️🎶

👉 Parent Tip: Let babies lead during play. Give them safe spaces to explore, offer toys that encourage movement and problem-solving, and most importantly — join in! Your encouragement fuels their confidence. ✨

Trivia Tuesdays with Dr. Steph ✨
Episode 10: "A baby's brain makes about 1 million new connections per second!"

Ready to be amazed?

In their first years, babies create about 1 million new brain connections every SECOND! Every cuddle, peek-a-boo, giggle, and gentle word builds the very architecture of your baby's brain for learning, emotions, and relationships. ✨

👉 Parent Tip: Prioritize face-to-face time, free play, singing, and exploration. The simple, loving moments matter more than you realize — they are literally wiring your baby’s future! 🌱
