When in doubt, angry, tired, or stressed, pause. Pausing allows our minds to process what is happening instead of responding on autopilot. The biggest power we have in any situation is how we respond to it. Practice the pause, take a couple of deep breaths in, and reflect. Practice this meditation exercise: sit in a comfortable position and environment. Notice and relax your body. Try noticing what your physical body is actually doing - the sensations of her hands on your legs or the feeling of being grounded to the chair or the floor. Notice how you are breathing. Are you taking deep slow breaths or shallow ones? Oftentimes, people are so preoccupied with their thoughts that they forget to take full breaths. Sit for five minutes and be with your physical surroundings. Notice your breath. Before you go about your day again, do another check in. How does your body feel after this exercise? How does it feel to tap into the deeper reservoir of peace?
Tell us how you take a pause during the day!
