Mental and Psychosocial Support Activities Update
In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Uwan, our mission to bring comfort, hope, and emotional support to our learners, teachers, and communities has been stronger than ever. Over the past days, we visited schools to remind everyone that healing is possible and that no one faces this journey alone.
✔ Baldoc Integrated School
A Mental and Psychosocial Support session was conducted through Project Damayan of PSAT Supreme Secondary Learner Government - PSAT SSLG and Mswdo Lgu Pandan , in partnership with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) through Tulong Kamalayan – Catanduanes.
We also provided Psychological First Aid (PFA) to teachers, recognizing their strength and the emotional load they carry while supporting their students during this challenging time.
✔ San Andres Elementary School
Together with CatSU–CKBB, CatSU–CICT student leaders and Heart for the Philippines, a heartfelt PFA session was held.
A safe space was created where children could openly express their fears, emotions, and experiences following the typhoon.
✔ San Isidro Integrated School
No matter how remote the barangay is, we walked miles to reach the learners because every child deserves comfort, support, and someone willing to listen after the storm.
✔ Pandan School of Arts and Trades (PSAT)
Another meaningful PFA session was conducted with the support of PSAT SSLG Project Damayan and MSWDO Pandan, bringing warmth, courage, and emotional strength to students still coping with the impacts of the typhoon.
✔ Mental Health Awareness Discussions
Across all these schools, we also facilitated sessions focused on:
• Practical and healthy coping mechanisms
• Understanding emotions after a disaster
• Knowing when and how to seek help without fear or hesitation
✔ Community House-to-House Support
RHU Pandan also extended its care beyond school grounds by conducting house-to-house psychosocial visits, ensuring that even those unable to leave their homes still received comfort, guidance, and emotional support after the devastation brought by Super Typhoon Uwan.
