Señor Sto. Niño Hospital-Dental Clinic Caring for you and your smile…

The longer treatment is delayed, the more invasive and expensive it becomes.⏰💸

Tooth decay begins silently. In the earliest stage, you may not see or feel anything. But beneath the surface, enamel is already demineralizing due to acids from plaque bacteria. At this stage, a simple fluoride treatment can stop and even reverse the damage—saving your tooth and avoiding future pain.

As decay progresses, it breaks through the enamel into the dentin, leading to visible cavities. This requires a filling. Delay further, and the decay may reach the pulp, needing root canal treatment and a crown. In worst cases, the tooth becomes unsalvageable, needing extraction and replacement with an implant or bridge—both costly and time-intensive.

Early dental visits, regular check-ups, and preventive care are the smartest ways to protect both your teeth and your wallet.

🦷 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬? 🤔 Here’s What You Need to Know First!

Braces are a big step towards a better, healthier smile — pero bago ka magpa-braces, here are a few important things to keep in mind:

✨ 1. Braces are not just for looks.
They help correct bite problems, overcrowding, misaligned teeth, and even jaw issues. It’s not just about straight teeth — it’s also about your oral health!

🪥 2. Oral hygiene is a must.
Mas magiging prone sa food traps and plaque buildup ang teeth mo. So if you’re planning to get braces, dapat ready ka sa consistent brushing and flossing — morning, after meals, and before bed.

💰 3. Braces are an investment.
Treatment can take 1–3 years, depending on your case. It also requires monthly adjustments, follow-ups, and proper maintenance. Kaya dapat handa ka both financially and emotionally.

🧑‍⚕️ 4. Not everyone is immediately qualified.
Some patients may need tooth extractions, fillings, or deep cleaning first. That’s why a thorough consultation and dental x-ray are done before braces.

✅ 5. Patient cooperation is the key to success!
Braces won’t move your teeth on their own. Kailangan ang discipline at commitment from you. Here’s what cooperation means:
• Wearing your rubber bands (elastics) if prescribed
• Avoiding hard, sticky, or chewy foods
• Not missing monthly checkups and adjustments
• Following your ortho’s advice even when it’s inconvenient

🗝️ Remember: The more you cooperate, the faster and better your treatment results will be!
Ang braces ay teamwork ng pasyente at dentista — ikaw ang susi sa tagumpay ng treatment mo.

Infections from untreated upper molars and premolars can spread beyond the tooth roots into the maxillary sinuses. This is called odontogenic sinusitis. It can cause facial pressure, chronic sinus congestion, and even pus discharge from the nose.
Unlike regular sinus infections, these do not respond well to antibiotics alone and often need dental treatment.
Early diagnosis and prompt root canal or extraction are essential to avoid complications. Always investigate sinus symptoms linked with dental pain.

A survey has revealed that a quarter of parents admit they sometimes “forget” to brush their children’s teeth — a simple daily habit often lost in the chaos of modern life. With over half of respondents blaming busy mornings, exhaustion, or everyday distractions, the findings highlight a growing concern about children’s dental health. Some parents pointed to reasons like strong toothpaste flavors or kids simply getting bored and refusing to cooperate. Experts say that turning brushing into a fun family routine, using apps or timers, or letting kids choose their own brushes can make a big difference. Small changes, done consistently, can protect little smiles — even in the middle of busy days.

Using your teeth to open a bottle cap can cause permanent damage.
Many people do this out of convenience, but it’s one of the fastest ways to crack, chip, or even lose a tooth!

🔵 What Happens When You Use Teeth as Bottle Openers?

1. Chipped or Cracked Enamel – The hard outer layer of your teeth (enamel) can fracture under pressure, exposing sensitive inner layers and increasing the risk of decay.

2. Tooth Fractures– A cracked tooth may not always be visible but can lead to severe pain, infection, or even the need for a root canal or extraction.

3. Jaw Strain & TMJ Problems – The excessive force can strain jaw muscles and joints, leading to chronic pain or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

4. Dental Work Damage – If you have fillings, crowns, or veneers, they can loosen or break from the pressure.

Remember: Teeth Are for Chewing, Not for Opening, Cutting, or Holding Objects!

Your teeth are strong, but they’re not indestructible. A single mistake can lead to costly dental repairs. Protect your smile—always use the right tool for the job!
