Participation of Iranon District Hospital in the One HIV, AIDS, and STI Information System (OHASIS) 2.0 Rollout Training

Iranon District Hospital expresses its sincere gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the One HIV, AIDS, and STI Information System (OHASIS) 2.0 Rollout Training, conducted by the Ministry of Health – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) through the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU).

The training session was held at the Bangsamoro Regional and Medical Center on October 15-16, 2025. The primary aim of this activity was to strengthen the capacity of our healthcare facilities in effectively utilizing the OHASIS 2.0 platform, thereby enabling improved data management, reporting, and coordination for HIV, AIDS, and STI programs.

Representatives from the HIV/AIDS core team at Iranon District Hospital included Ms. Naira Madag, RN, and Ms. Bai Nadzma Aliuden, RMT.

The training was facilitated by a dedicated team from MOH-BARMM, composed of Mr. Shervin Lim, Data Analyst; Ms. Sheryl M. Mendez, Nurse II and HIV Surveillance Officer; and Ms. Bai Princess Baraguir, STI/HIV-AIDS Regional Program Coordinator.

This capacity-building activity was made possible through the guidance and leadership of Dr. Harris D. Macapeges, Chief of Hospital II, whose support continues to inspire our commitment to improving health outcomes. We are confident that the knowledge and skills gained from this training will significantly enhance our efforts in HIV, AIDS, and STI prevention and control within our community.

Bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Global Handwashing Day, nagsagawa ang District Hospital ng isang health education activity para sa mga pasyente, watchers, at bisita sa ward. Layunin ng aktibidad na itaas ang kamalayan ng mga kalahok tungkol sa kahalagahan ng tamang paghuhugas ng kamay upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng sakit.

Binigyang-diin sa isinagawang lecture ang kahalagahan ng paghuhugas ng kamay sa mga sumusunod na pagkakataon: bago at pagkatapos magluto, bago at pagkatapos kumain, pagkatapos gumamit ng palikuran, pagkatapos maglinis ng dumi ng bata o matanda, at pagkatapos maglinis ng kapaligiran. Ito ay bahagi ng kampanyang tinaguriang "High Five para sa Handwashing".

Kasama sa aktibidad ang isang demonstrasyon ng wastong paraan ng paghuhugas ng kamay, kung saan aktibong lumahok ang mga pasyente, watchers, bisita at ang mga nursing students ng Illana Bay Integrated Computer College, Inc sa pagsasagawa nito.

Ang aktibidad ay matagumpay na naisagawa sa pangunguna nina Reham Dimaren, RN, MAN – Chief Nurse, Princess Norhana Miro, RN, at Isnaira Inding, RN – Health Education and Promotion Officer (HEPO) at lubos na sinusuportahan ng Chief of Hospital na si Dr. Harris Macapeges ang nasabing aktibidad bilang bahagi ng patuloy na adbokasiya ng ospital sa promosyon ng kalinisan at kalusugan.

Hinikayat namin ang lahat na gawing ugali ang regular at tamang paghuhugas ng kamay upang mapanatiling ligtas at protektado ang buong pamilya laban sa sakit.

Assalamu allaykom wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuho!

On October 13, 2025, a Monday, Iranon District Hospital received a donation of 10 trash bins with tires from the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy - BARMM, led by Minister Akmad Brahim.

These trash bins will be a valuable addition to the hospital’s waste management system, helping to ensure a cleaner and more environmentally responsible disposal process within the facility.

The Chief of Hospital II, Dr. Harris Macapeges, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for this generous opportunity and assured that the hospital will utilize the bins effectively to enhance their waste management practices.

Special thanks are also extended to Ms. Jehan Abdulazis the Pollution Control Officer of IDH for her proactive initiative in sending a letter to the Ministry of Environment, which helped facilitate this donation. This collaborative effort underscores the hospital’s commitment to environmental sustainability and public health.

A meeting on the Earthquake Preparedness and Response Plan was conducted under the leadership of DRRM-H Head and OPD Head, Cris Jayson Andal, RN, and Administrative Officer V, Catalino O. Molina Jr., RN, MAN, CHA, DipHLM, MPA. Among the key topics discussed were the immediate activation of Code White during seismic events, ensuring the constant availability of medical staff and utility personnel, and maintaining clear communication through the designated group chat (GC), where available staff must promptly respond “yes” to confirm readiness. The importance of trimming trees around the facility to prevent hazards was also emphasized, alongside the need for continuous coordination, resource readiness, and scheduled drills to strengthen institutional resilience.

October 09, 2025 | Nursing Monthly Meeting

A nursing monthly meeting was successfully conducted and presided over by Reham Dimaren, RN, MAN—Chief Nurse. The meeting was held on October 9, 2025, and it was attended by all nursing personnel. Dr. Harris Macapeges, the Chief of Hospital, was also present, showing his continued support for nursing operations and development.

The meeting aims to strengthen the delivery of nursing services by updating staff on essential clinical procedures, standardizing documentation practices, introducing new team members, and addressing current issues and concerns to ensure efficient and quality patient care.

The agenda focused on clinical protocols and updates essential for improving service delivery and ensuring adherence to standards of care. The following topics were discussed:

1.VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) Screening
✅Presented by: Sahro-zida Ronda Tomawis, RM
✅The presentation emphasized the importance of early detection of cervical cancer using VIA, with a refresher on proper screening procedures and documentation.

2.Guidelines on TB Screening Questionnaire
✅Presented by: Shaina Wahab Abo, RN
✅The discussion covered updated guidelines on using the TB screening tool for early identification of tuberculosis symptoms, including steps for proper administration and referral pathways.

3.How to Fill Up the HIV Testing Form
✅Presented by: Naira L. Madag, RN
✅Ms. Madag provided a detailed walk-through on accurately filling out the HIV testing forms, ensuring confidentiality, and adhering to ethical standards.

4.OR Forms & Checklist
✅Presented by: Ralph Lori, RN and Team
✅The team reviewed the proper use of operating room (OR) forms and checklists, reinforcing standard practices to promote patient safety and accurate documentation.

New personnel under the COS and Human Resources for Health (HRH) programs were also introduced to the team. As part of the open forum, nursing staff were provided the opportunity to raise current issues and concerns. Several suggestions were noted for follow-up and resolution.

👁️‍🗨️ Paano Mapapanatiling Malusog ang Iyong mga Mata at Malinaw ang Paningin?

Mahalaga ang malinaw na paningin sa lahat ng ating ginagawa—sa trabaho, pag-aaral, at pang-araw-araw na pamumuhay. Narito ang mga paraan upang mapangalagaan ang kalusugan ng ating mga mata:

✅ Mga Paraan Para Alagaan ang Mata:

1. Magpatingin sa espesyalista sa mata
– Regular na eye check-up upang maagapan ang anumang problema sa paningin.

2. Magsuot ng tamang salamin
– Gumamit ng anti-reflective o computer glasses para mabawasan ang glare at blue light. Nakakatulong ito maiwasan ang pagkapagod ng mata, pananakit ng ulo, at problema sa pagtulog.

3. Gumamit ng sunglasses na may UV protection
– Pinoprotektahan ng sunglasses ang mata mula sa mapaminsalang ultraviolet rays ng araw.

4. Siguraduhing may maayos na ilaw sa paligid
– Para sa pagbabasa o pagtatrabaho, gumamit ng angkop na ilaw sa mesa at ambient lighting para hindi mapagod ang mata.

5. Magpahinga mula sa screen
– Gamitin ang 20-20-20 rule: Tuwing 20 minuto, tumingin sa layo na 20 talampakan sa loob ng 20 segundo. Kumurap palagi para maiwasan ang panunuyo ng mata.

6. Iwasan ang usok at irritants
– Nakakairita ito sa mata at maaaring magdulot ng pamumula o pangangati.

7. Kumain ng pagkaing may omega-3 fatty acids
– Tulad ng salmon, tuna, at halibut na mabuti para sa kalusugan ng mata.

8. Maging aktibo at alagaan ang kalusugan
– Ang regular na ehersisyo at balanseng pagkain ay mahalaga rin sa pangkalahatang kalusugan ng iyong paningin.

💡 Tandaan:
Ang pag-aalaga sa iyong paningin ay hindi lang para sa ngayon, kundi para sa panghabambuhay na kalusugan ng mata.

August 6, 2025| Announcement of Winners – Your Safety, Our Priority Video Contest

The awarding ceremony for the "Your Safety, Our Priority" video contest was held on August 6, 2025, at the IDH lobby, following the flag ceremony.

This internal competition was organized to reinforce IDH’s ongoing advocacy for patient safety, with a special focus on the care of children and newborns. Participating departments—Administrative, Ancillary, and Nursing—each presented a short video highlighting their strategies and initiatives that promote a culture of safety within their areas of responsibility.

The activity aimed to encourage staff engagement, awareness, and accountability, while fostering innovation and collaboration across departments.
After careful evaluation, the winners were announced as follows:
🥇 1st Place – Nursing Department
🥈 2nd Place – Ancillary Department
🥉 3rd Place – Administrative Department
📈 Most Viewed Video – Administrative Department

All winners received cash prizes and certificates in recognition of their efforts and contributions to promoting patient safety.
