📢 Advisory from the PAO Executive Council

The PAO Executive Council has received multiple reports of AI-generated videos circulating on Facebook promoting unregistered and unsafe “eye drops” and “pills” that claim to cure all eye diseases.

Some of these videos:

- Use AI-generated likenesses of real ophthalmologists without their consent

- Falsely claim that their products are endorsed by major hospitals

- Contain misleading and dangerous health information

All such claims are false.

These products are not registered with the FDA and have no proven safety or efficacy. They may pose serious risks to patients’ eye health and general well-being.

Unfortunately, the PAO has no regulatory authority to remove these posts or prosecute offenders. The best immediate action is to:

1. Report the posts and pages to Facebook for removal.

2. Warn your patients against buying or using any product that is not FDA-approved or prescribed by a licensed ophthalmologist.

Let us continue to protect the public by sharing only credible, evidence-based information and promptly flagging harmful content when we see it.
