ANNUAL CONVENTION 2023
LOGO-MAKING CONTEST
INTRODUCTION:
The Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS) and the Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons (PALES) will hold a joint Annual Convention on
July 19 to 22, 2023 at the Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu. The theme of the convention is
“Traditional and Novel Perspectives in GS in the Era of MIS”.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To create a logo for the PSGS-PALES Annual Convention 2023.
2. The logo will be used as the official logo for various purposes such as online and print publication materials, merchandise and other visual collateral of the convention.
MECHANICS:
1. The contest is open to all who wish to join.
2. Each contestant must submit only ONE (1) entry.
3. The logo should be relevant to the PSGS-PALES Annual Convention.
4. Entries must be submitted in digitized format. It can be designed in digital or traditional illustration/drawing.
a) The file of the digital artwork should be submitted in the following formats: 1) JPEG and PNG formats (file extension .jpg and .png); 2) Original raw file (high definition). Filename is your name (e.g. juan_dela_cruz.png).
b) Freehand or traditional artworks must be submitted in high resolution digitized format (file extension .jpeg and .png ). Any medium or method can be used (watercolor, oil, acrylic, etc.) and there are no restrictions in the number of colors used. Filename is your name.
c) The logo should not carry the name of the artist.
5. The digital file of the artwork must be e-mailed to psgs.secretariat@gmail.com with the subject “PSGS-PALES Logo – (name of participant)” on or before February 19, 2023, 11:59pm, together with the contestant’s basic information (name, address, and contact number). Please indicate if the participant is a PSGS and/or PALES Fellow or Resident/Fellow-in-training from the accredited training programs and include the name of the accredited institution.
6. By entering the competition, the participants declare that the logo submitted is their original work, has not been submitted to any other competition, and does not infringe on any third party’s existing copyrights. Any complaints that may arise due to similarities, likeness or comparison of the design would be the accountability of the participant as he/she would be responsible to prove its authenticity.
7. Contest duration is from January 16, 2023 until February 19, 2023.
8. The winner will be awarded with a cash prize of Php 20,000.00.
9. The winning entry will be officially announced on February 22, 2023. It will be posted at the official websites and social media accounts of the PSGS and the PALES. The winner shall be informed through email and phone call from the PSGS secretariat.
10. All entries submitted as entry for the contest shall be considered as property of the PSGS and PALES. The PSGS and PALES shall also have exclusive rights to the winning logo design, publish it on their websites, and in other media and corporate materials. The PSGS and PALES reserve the right to further refine or make improvements on the final artwork of the winning entry.
The logo-making competition shall be judged according to the following criteria:
A. Concept– 40%
B. Originality – 20%
C. Relevance – 20%
C. Creativity and Impact – 30%
