Both mothers had a history of a previous baby affected by neonatal sepsis.
In this pregnancy, one mother screened GBS positive and received intrapartum antibiotics, while the other screened GBS negative but still antibiotic given

📊 What does the evidence tell us?

• GBS is the leading cause of severe early onset infection in newborn babies.
• 10-30% of pregnant women are colonised with GBS
• 36% of babies born to colonised mothers become colonised with GBS at birth
• 1-3% of these babies develop early onset GBS infection

This is why GBS screening and timely antibiotics during labor save lives.
Early detection makes all the difference. ❤️

She was lost to follow-up because she followed her neighbor’s advice. She came back to me after no one attended to her right away at the hospital her neighbor recommended, even though her water had been leaking for 24 hours.

Fortunately, she did not develop fever, and both the mother and the baby are currently stable and doing well. ❤️

He is so adorable and cute 🍼👶🏻❤️
