Meet Nurse Norie Buhay Alon from the Philippines.

Norie found her calling at an HIV clinic in 2015, where she began supporting young people with treatment, care and psychological support – and she also builds trust to help prevent new infections.

“I want my clients to feel trust. If there is no trust, a client will be lost.”

Despite great progress over the last two decades, HIV infections are on the rise in the Philippines. Between 2010 and 2021, AIDS-related deaths spiked by more than 400% – the largest increase in the Asia-Pacific region.

People like Norie are vital in reaching at-risk communities and dismantling the barriers that prevent people from accessing lifesaving health care.
