Healthy baby teeth will usually result to a healthy permanent teeth. Children that constantly drinking from bottle is at higher risk of developing baby bottle tooth decay also known as "early childhood caries." It is a common problem among children under the age of five, but can be avoided through awareness and prevention such as:
• Wipe your baby's gums with a clean, damp gauze pad or washcloth after feeding.
• Never let your baby fall asleep with a bottle filled with milk, juice, or soda in their mouth.
• Teach your child to drink from a cup by age of 1 and discourage frequent or prolonged use of a training or sippy cup.
• Never give your child a pacifier dipped in anything sweet.
• Limit the amount of sweet or sticky foods your child eats.
• When your child’s first tooth appears, brush it with fluoride toothpaste and talk to your dentist about scheduling the first dental visit.
