A stronger voice for change! ACRI’s Dr. Geminn Louis C. Apostol joins the WHO Civil Society Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) — a global initiative that brings together civil society groups to strengthen collaboration, build capacity, and amplify the voices of communities most affected by AMR.

Through this Task Force, the World Health Organization works hand in hand with nongovernmental and civil society organizations to ensure that everyone — especially vulnerable populations — has equitable access to prevention, treatment, and care.

🌍 This World Environmental Health Day, we are reminded that air pollution is one of the leading environmental health threats worldwide, responsible for millions of premature deaths each year. In the Philippines, it worsens chronic respiratory diseases like COPD and places outdoor workers and vulnerable communities at higher risk.

Here’s what we can do: improve public transport, enforce and strengthen clean air policies, plan a sustainable energy transition, and strengthen monitoring systems.

Initiatives like Breathe Metro Manila—led by ACRI in partnership with the Manila Observatory, BUILD, and Clarity—are helping close the data gap through real-time monitoring, making air quality visible and actionable for communities and policymakers.
