It’s Usapang Diabetes’ third round, this time for a medical mssion at St. Paul College Pasig. I’m so thankful that I get to share my healing journey. And I was also able to give away two glucose monitors from the Reverse Diabetes PH donation. 💙💙💙

First donation received for my Reverse Diabetes PH Project. Two blood glucometer kits. 💙 When I give out consultations or workshops and I’m asked how I wish to be paid, I ask for glucometers that can be given away to future workshop attendees. I’m excited to hand these out during an upcoming workshop for school employees. I welcome donations as well for those who would like to give out glucometers so we can spread the healing. 💙

My ‘Usapang Diabetes’ workshop had its second run at my community in Pasig. I’m very grateful that I was given the platform to impart my journey towards healing my diabetes, hypertension and fatty liver. Thank you Mr. Jojo Perlas, DABBA Homeowners’ President, for the opportunity. Here’s to my hope in sharing to more people; to anyone who is interested in learning and healing. 💙💙💙

Much love to my family who came by to support: my husband Melvene James A Aquende, my sister Hazel Pascual-Nespral and my tita Marlene Hamadani. 💙

Tips on Grocery Shopping for Diabetics

Make a List. Do try not to stray from it so you are focused on getting only what you need. This will save you some cash, too!

Take Caution at the Middle Section. That’s where the highly processed foods are. Veggies and meat are usually at the stores’ sides. If you must go to the middle, it can be just for toiletrees and cleaning agents then step out!

Read the Label. Not all brands are created equal. Higher carbohydrate numbers mean higher spikes. Do make a quick food label comparison so you can get the best choice.

Eat Up! Before heading to the grocery, do grab a bite. If you’re hungry while shopping, you’re more likely to throw more stuff in your cart.

Be Aware of Selling Tactics. Companies with big distribution budgets lure you in by strategically placing their products to catch your attention and wallet: at eye-level, at the stand alone aisles, and near the checkout counter. They’re all there to push the sale. And it can be at your health’s expense. RD

The labels can be deceiving. Not just because they’re branded or thought of as healthy, that they’re automatically good for you. I always suggest doing a blood sugar test one hour after the consumption of each food to know which ones and also which specific brands can trigger a spike. Everyone can have a different reaction so a personalized approach has to be taken. Keep on healing. 💙
