At SMLC Behavioral Therapy Center, nothing brings us more joy than seeing the growth of every child and the hope that blossoms in every parent’s heart. One of our dear parents recently shared their journey with us, and we are deeply touched by their words.

“I just want to express my gratitude for Teacher Gene and the incredible work they’ve been doing with my child at SMLC Center. We’ve already noticed significant progress in specific areas such as impulse control, communication, and focus. Teacher Gene’s patience, expertise, and personalized approach have truly made a huge difference. My child feels supported and encouraged every step of the way.”

For us, every milestone, whether it’s a word spoken, a behavior managed, or a smile of confidence is a victory worth celebrating. We know that behind every child’s progress is the boundless love of a parent and the dedication of a teacher who never gives up.

This story is a reminder of why we do what we do: to create a safe, caring, and empowering space where children with special needs can thrive and where parents can feel supported in their journey.

To the families who entrust us with their children, thank you for allowing us to be part of your story. Your trust inspires us to continue serving with love, compassion, and commitment. 💙

When your child melts down in public, and the stares begin—breathe. No need for explanations. You know your child best. You’re doing what you can. That in itself is brave.

What Parents Are Saying About “The Unexpected Gift”

“As a parent whose child was diagnosed with autism we begin our journey with so much confusion and overwhelmed heart... This book will not just give basic and thorough information on Autism, but it will give hope and guidance to the whole family.” – Mommy Josie Ortiz, Autism Family Support Group

For Mommy Josie, this book is more than knowledge. It is a source of strength that reflects SMLC’s proven and affordable therapy programs, which have already helped thousands of families. She encourages parents to read it with prayer and an open heart, trusting that God may use it as an answer to their prayers.

Nangarap akong mag sulat ng libro, pero hindi para sa sarili ko. Bakit nga ba kailangan pang mag sulat? Para saan?

Noong nasa training palang ako as a therapist, excited ako. Dahil for sure makakatulong ang work ko sa mga bata.
Excited ako sa Purpose, not just the work itself dahil siguro bata pa lang ako nag hahanap na ako ng purpose ng buhay. So I joined and led a lot of outreach programs, medical missions, and volunteer works, church missions, etc.

Kaya excited ako to work as a therapist.
Pero naluha ako after ng first exposure ko sa student ko. Lalo akong nag karoon ng maraming tanong about sa purpose ng buhay. And first hand experience, akala ko as therapist, mapapagaling namin ang mga batang may autism. Hindi pala. Gumuho ang excitement ko. Sobrang lungkot kong umuwi.

But I also learned that by doing my best, may nababago pa din akong buhay. Just do your best and never give up. Meron at meron kang matutulungan.

So tuwing nasa byahe, lagi kong iniisip kung ano pang pwedeng gawin to help my students. Ano pang strategies ang dapat masubukan. Isip lang ng isip. Gawa lang ng gawa. Balang araw, magbubunga din lahat ito.

At lumipas nga ang maraming taon, more than 18,000 families na ang natulungan namin sa SMLC. At hindi biro ang ganito kalaking responsibilidad. Kaya naisip ko, sana gamiting ako ni Lord to write a book.
And God answered my prayer. May bonus pa. It was just my dream before na mag Foreword si Bro. Bo Sanchez sa book na isinulat ko. Pero grabe si God. Dahil sino ba naman ako para gamitin nya? But He used Bro. Bo so that this book can reach more families.

This book is more than just pages, it is an advocacy.

Also more than just a book. It is a healing journal, for parents who carry the weight of uncertainty, for siblings who sometimes feel unseen, and for grandparents who quietly hope to give support in the best way they can.

It is a place to pause and reflect, to regain strength, and to remember that even in the hardest seasons, God has a purpose. His perspective reminds us that every struggle can be turned into growth, every tear into compassion, and every challenge into an opportunity to love more deeply.
Because when families are heard, healed, and supported, we do not just raise awareness, we change lives.

Going back to the question, bakit nga ba kailangan pang mag sulat? Because I believe we all have a choice: to just focus on being the best for ourselves, or to be strong so we can protect and help others.
I chose the latter path, because families living with autism need voices, need hope, and need reminders that they are not alone. This book is my way of standing with them. It is an advocacy and a healing journal, written with the prayer that in these pages, parents, siblings, and grandparents may find comfort, courage, and the strength to keep going.

P.S.

So friends, if you know a friend, a family, a teacher, or a caregiver walking the journey of autism, and sometimes you wonder how you can truly help, this book is a gift that speaks for you.

And here’s the best part: a big portion of the proceeds goes to FREE therapy for families in need, so every copy you buy becomes a seed of hope for another child.

You give your all every day. But what about you? Your rest is just as sacred as your child’s needs. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Take 5 minutes. Drink your coffee slowly. Cry if you need to. You are not a bad parent for needing time.

In this journey, the milestones look different but they are just as magical. A shared gaze. A single word. A smile. These small moments carry hope. Never let anyone tell you they are insignificant. Every little progress is a big leap.

“A True Angel in Our Journey”

Raising a child with special needs comes with daily struggles and moments of confusion. Especially when you're unsure how to help. But for Chelsea’s mom, the presence of Teacher Angel changed everything.

From a child who couldn’t follow verbal instructions and showed little interest in toys or learning tools, Chelsea is now showing progress. Learning how to use items around her, and even responding to simple commands.

Behind every milestone is a teacher who believed in her and a mom who never gave up. For parents like Abigail, even small steps feel like miracles. And with the right support, every day feels a little lighter.

Thank you, Teacher Angel, for being that guiding light.
