August is Sight Saving Month!

Declared under Proclamation No. 40 by President Ramon Magsaysay on July 5, 1954, this observance highlights the importance of eye health and the prevention of vision loss for all Filipinos.

Our eyes deserve care, too. Many eye problems can be prevented or treated early — but only if we pay attention. That’s why regular check-ups with an eye specialist are essential to detect issues before they worsen.

JUST IN: Isang lalaki ang deneklarang patay na ang utak nagdonate ng kanyang organ; unang multiple organ retrieval isinagawa sa EVMC

Binigyan ng "honor walk" ang isang lalaki dahil sa pag-donate ng kanyang mga organs matapos itong ideklarang brain dead sa Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC).

Bago pa man mailagay sa kritikal na sitwasyon ang Bayaning Donor, mayroon na siyang ID Card na nagsasabing nais niyang ibigay ang kanyang mga organs na maaaring gamitin ng ibang nangangailangan.

Sa pahintulot ng kanyang pamilya, isinagawa ang unang Multiple Organ Retrieval Procedure sa Eastern Visayas Medical Center sa pangunguna ng mga ekspertong surgeon at medical team ng EVMC at NKTI noong Martes Agosto 19, 2025.

Naging matagumpay ang procedure kung saan hindi lamang isa kundi tatlong organs (liver, kidney at cornea) ang ibibigay sa mga mapapalad na pasyente na matagal nang naghihintay na malipatan ng mga organs.

Ang kabutihang ipinakita ng nasabing donor ay magiging daan upang maiugnay ang buhay ng iba.

Itinuturing ng pamunuan ng EVMC na makabuluhan ang kamakailang maramihang organ donation at retrieval procedure, na nagpapakita ng kapasidad ng EVMC na magbigay ng de-kalidad na serbisyong medikal.
