💡 Weaponized Incompetence: The Art of “I’m Totally Clueless, Can You Do It for Me?” 🤔
Ever worked with someone who magically forgets how to do things the second it’s their turn? Like, one minute they’re a spreadsheet wizard, the next minute they’re like, “Spreadsheets? What are those?!” 🙄
🎭 It’s called "WEAPONIZED INCOMPETENCE". It’s when someone acts totally helpless so they can get out of doing something they don’t want to do… and somehow, you’re the one stuck picking up the slack.
Examples include:
🔹 “I have NO idea how to send an email. Can you just do it for me?”
🔹 “Oh, I’d love to help, but… is this a you job? I’m not great at this.”
🔹 “I didn’t realize it was my turn to do that…” (Oh, really? 😏)
It’s like a superpower—if that superpower was being really good at avoiding responsibility. 🙃
✅ How to Handle Weaponized Incompetence:
1️⃣ Set Clear Expectations – Assign tasks with clear deadlines and confirm mutual understanding.
2️⃣ Don’t Rush to Rescue – If they’re “unsure,” guide them instead of taking over.
3️⃣ Document Everything – Keep a record of responsibilities so there’s no “I didn’t know” excuse.
4️⃣ Use Accountability Loops – Regular check-ins make it harder to dodge work.
5️⃣ Be Consistent – Don’t reward helplessness by always bailing them out.
The bottom line: They’re not helpless—they’re strategic. Don’t let their game become your workload. 💪
