Violence against women and children is a widespread and deeply troubling problem in societies. It takes many forms, including physical, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse, and can have life-changing and long-lasting effects on victims. As a society, it is our collective responsibility to address this issue and create a world where women and children can live free from fear and harm. Children who witness violence at home are also deeply affected both in the short and long term. They may experience emotional trauma, struggle with mental health issues, and are at greater risk of continuing the cycle of violence in their lives.
This includes providing safe spaces, counseling and legal aid to victims of violence. More comprehensive support systems and services are needed for victims of violence. By creating more just and equal societies, we can reduce the risk factors that make people vulnerable to violence. By acting as a society, we can create a world where women and children are protected, supported and free from harm.
