Just like our cities need proper flood control, our eyes also need good anterior chamber depth and clear drainage canals para iwas pressure buildup.

💧In our eyes, the ‘canal’ is called the anterior chamber located kung saan nag-meet ang cornea at iris.

Dito dumadaan ang aqueous humor (the clear fluid in the eye) para makalabas through the trabecular meshwork and Schlemm’s canal.

Kapag barado ‘to, naiipon ang fluid, tataas ang pressure, at pwede masira ang optic nerve ito ang tinatawag na hypertension sa mata or glaucoma.

Whether in our eyes or in our country, good drainage saves lives and vision.

Dito sa Eyes of Palawan, we do Risk Assessment through advanced tests like Corneal Pachymetry para makita agad kung may risk ka sa glaucoma or other eye conditions.

Meet one of our Little Keratoconus Warrior and proud Anti-Myopia Myopia Club and Eyes of Palawan Kids members.
Like many kids today, he’s been on a journey with his eyesight. His parents brought him to Eyes of Palawan because they wanted more than just glasses they wanted a clinic that could monitor, protect, and guide his vision for the future. 💙

In this video, you’ll see him going through two important steps in his eye care journey:

1. A scan using our Corneal Topography machine

2. A follow-up check for his carefully designed Scleral Contact Lenses

What is Corneal Topography?
It’s like a 3D “map” of the eye 🗺️. This painless test helps us:

Detect early conditions like keratoconus

Track myopia progression

Ensure proper specialty contact lens fitting

What are Scleral Lenses?

Ito ang madalas na sinasabi ng mga magulang ng mga batang pasyente ko.
Noong nakaraang linggo, tatlong bata (Dalawang 4 y.o, Isang 13 y.o) ang dumating na may parehong problema:
Madalas kinukuskos ang mata.

Tanong: Nakakasira ba ng mata ang eye rubbing?
Sagot: Oo!

Ano ang Meibomian Glands?

Ito ang maliliit na Glandula sa loob ng ating talukap (eyelids) na naglalabas ng oil para hindi madaling matuyo ang mata.
Kapag nasira ito, puwedeng magdulot ng:
• Pangangati
• Pamumula
• Panlalabo ng paningin
• Dry eyes

Ano ang puwedeng mangyari dahil sa Eye rubbing?

1. Pinsala sa Eyelids
• Matinding pressure mula sa kuskos → puwedeng magdulot ng damage sa glands or eye ⬆️ pressure ( Pwedeng humahantong sa glaucoma)
•Hindi na nag re-regenerate

2. Pagbara o Dysfunction ng Glands
• Lalo sa may allergy, blepharitis, o MGD
• Maaaring maging dahilan ng dry eye

3. Impeksyon mula sa maduming kamay
• Nagdudulot ng kuliti, blepharitis, at mas lalong nasisira ang glands

Bata man o matanda, pwedeng maapektuhan:

• Keratoconus – pagnipis ng cornea, hirap makakita
• Lid laxity – pagluwag ng talukap
• Kuliti – impeksyon sa eyelid glands

• Gumamit ng cold compress
• Pwede rin ang antihistamine eye drops (May reseta)
• Iwasan ang allergens at alikabok
