RITE-TECH STUNS PARAÑAQUE, NAILS MAIDEN DMR TITLE
The inaugural season if the IFBL's Doctors and Medical Representatives Championship concluded with the biggest upset last July 5, as Rite-Tech shocked the unbeaten Parañaque Snipers, 72-59 in the final at the Gatorade Hoops Center.
Billed as a dream finale between the top two sides, it was the second seed that dealt the top team its first and most painful loss of the tournament, shattering not just its dreams of a sweep but also its title aspirations in one swift blow in a vengeful win for RT.
Season MVP Mark Yves Chan turned on the afterburners from the second quarter onwards, scoring 22 of his 26 in that stretch and added nine rebounds and eight assists to secure the Smile360 Dental Clinic Finals MVP award.
Big man JayR Puti was the other RT cager in double figures with eleven, but proved to be not needed much as their depth became their main asset in a wire-to-wire win with Kenneth Azucena and former San Beda Red Lion Raymond Maggay each had 8 points as they enjoyed their biggest lead at 17 (54-37) in the payoff period.
The Snipers were led by the dynamic duo of mythical team members Aries Nalus and Jeffrey Laguitao who combined for 36, with Jerome Sahagun not far behind with a dozen.
