WHAT IS SORE EYES?

Sore eyes occurs when the conjunctiva (clear tissue covering the white part of your eye and the inside of your eyelids) is irritated by an infection or allergies. Common symptoms include a gritty sensation in your eye, eye redness, burning sensation in your eyes, itchy eyes, painful eyes, watery eyes, puffy eyelids, blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and lots of mucus, pus, or thick yellow discharge from your eye that your eyelashes stick together.

HOW TO GET A PWD CARD FOR POOR EYESIGHT

STEP 1: CONSULT AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST
Visit an eye doctor for proper diagnosis.

STEP 2: GO TO PWD OFFICE
Bring the medical certificate issued by the eye doctor to your local PWD office. You can also go to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) or DOH office for assistance.

STEP 3: FILL OUT FORMS
Fill out the Philippine Registry Form for Persons with Disability

STEP 4: SUBMIT ID PICTURES
Submit Barangay Clearance; two 2×2 ID pictures (one for the application form and one for the medicine booklet); one 1X1 ID picture (for PWD card).

STEP 5: GET THE PWD ID
Depending on the capabilities of your local PWD office, you can get the ID after a few minutes or return to get it after several days.

HOW DOES ADULT STRABISMUS AFFECT VISION?

With normal vision, both eyes aim at the same spot. The brain combines the two images from our eyes into a single, three-dimensional (3-D) image. This is how we can tell how near or far something is from us (depth perception). When one eye is out of alignment, two different pictures are sent to the brain, often resulting in double vision.

WHEN TO HAVE AN EYE EXAM

For adults whose eyes are healthy and vision is good, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) recommends a complete eye exam done by an ophthalmologist once in their 20s and twice in their 30s. The AAO recommends that adults get a complete eye examination at age 40 when early signs of disease or changes in vision may appear. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment of eye diseases are vital.

EVENING SCREEN TIME CAN DISRUPT CHILD’S SLEEP

Screen time can consistently affect children’s sleep duration and cause delays in sleep timing. Easy access to a screen makes it difficult for kids to put the screens away before bed and get a full night’s sleep. The bright “blue light” that screens emit, particularly in the evening, can interfere with the body’s circadian rhythm, making it harder for kids to both fall and stay asleep. The post-operative course went well for three days, but encouraged by this, she did not follow my instructions and she got up and lay down alone, removed and put back the eyepad, always telling me that nothing was going to happen until her eyes became so inflamed(she suspected that during the night she received a blow. Ang floaters ay ang mga tuldok, linya o sapot sa iyong paningin. Ang vitreous gel sa loob ng mata ay nagiging malabnaw habang tayo ay tumatanda na nagsasanhi ng mga floaters. Ang mga floaters sa ating mata ay nagdudulot ng anino sa ating retina kaya natin ito napapansin. Maaari rin itong makita kadalasan sa mga taong near-sighted o sa mga tao na naaksidente sa mata.

Kumonsulta agad sa ophthalmologist kung nakakaranas ng mga floaters na hindi nawawala.
