𝙅𝙪𝙖𝙣 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙚-𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 🌱💚

On December 6-7 2023, Sumulongians are geared up to participate in the Department of Education's (DepEd) launching of DepEd 236,000 Trees - A Christmas Gift for the Children at Juan Sumulong High School.

Along with the 47,678 DepEd public schools, more than 236,000 trees will be planted simultaneously around the nation.

This project, which is a gift from the DepEd, aims to inspire environmental responsibility and promote environmental preservation in Filipino children while also protecting a clean and green environment for them and future generations.

𝗜-𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗲! ⭕

The Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) Club gives a chance to the Sumulongians to shoot the ring in plastic bottles to win a prize. As a part of the celebration of International Children's Day, the CENTREX scholars held a program with the BKD club and other organizations in Juan Sumulong.

This event was held to give the Sumulongians the joy of being a kid again by participating in different games that are organized by different clubs.

On behalf of the BKD Club, we would like to thank the project AKAP🫂 and the people behind this project for giving the students the opportunities to experience again the joy of being a kid again, especially in this chapter of our lives where we didn't have time to go back the time because we're busy doing schoolworks.

“𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗞𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻”

These words from Doctor Rally Abalon left a mark on the Sumulongians at the Drug Addiction Awareness and Prevention Seminar yesterday, November 10, 2023.

This seminar is organized by the guidance office headed by Ms. Michelle Ponce with the officers of peer educators in collaboration with the Barkada Kontra Droga Club (BKD) and Schools Disaster Risk Reduction Management (SDRRM).

As a club that promotes the harmful effects of drugs not just to teenagers but to other people who are using them, we believe that this kind of seminar must continue to educate the Filipinos not to take drugs and their effects, not just on their health, but on the people around them.

Did you enjoy our Panchinko Booth everyJuan?

We hope you did! As a part of the Teachers Day celebration, the Barkada Kontra Droga Club, together with the Peer Educators Club, prepared a Panchinko booth. Sumulongians enjoyed joining this game after the school-based teacher's day program happened yesterday, October 6, 2023.

Some students also enjoyed joining the other booths from other clubs, like Jail Booth and Pa-Kaldart Naman Jan! Jam n' Jingle, Lo-Booth, Marriage Booth, Shake Your Boothy, Lihim ng Hiwaga, Lines of Expressed Emotions, Buzz Wire Booth, Grab-e Ba! and Pinoy Henyo. 🎪

𝗦𝘂𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆? 🙌

The Barkada Kontra Droga Club, together with the Peer Educators Club, prepared a collaboration booth for everyJuan to play and enjoy tomorrow for the school based celebration of World Teacher's Day 👩‍🏫.

It's called the Panchinko Booth where you will be given 5 balls that will cause PHP 10 = 2 TICKETS that you will drop in a box and you will win points based on where the balls landed on.

Please be guided for the rules and regulations you need to follow. We are hoping you guys will visit and play!

“𝙒𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚, 𝙒𝙚'𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙮𝙤𝙪”

The Barkada Kontra Droga Club joins the mental health orientation, which was organized by the HELP Project and VYG, which aims to help and educate each of us on how we will handle the problems that may come into our lives.

It emphasizes the importance of recognizing emotions and how to solve problems you may face. They also highlighted how everyJuan will break the stigma about the reactions of people when you tell them about your difficulties.

This event opened the eyes of the Sumulongians to how important life is and that ending it is not the best solution to conquer your battle.

ADVISORY: LOW AIR QUALITY ‼️⚠️

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has issued a warning regarding the high level of sulfur dioxide generated by Taal Volcano, which generates volcanic fog or vog in the surrounding areas and has already reached Metro Manila. This comes as a result of the reduced visibility seen in the National Capital Region (NCR).

According to the most recent PHIVOLCS warning at 5:30 p.m., the Taal Volcano erupted 4,569 tons of sulfur oxide today.

This can cause irritation to the eyes, throat, and respiratory tract, which can be severe depending on the concentration or duration of inhalation.

As a result, everyone is strongly advised to stay indoors and use a face mask.

Things to Do:
1. Limit your going out of the house.
2. Protect yourself by wearing a facemask.
3. Close the windows and doors of the house.
4. Drink lots of water.
5. Immediately consult the nearest hospital if you feel difficulty breathing or other effects caused by smog.

Today, September 16, 2023, the Barkada Kontra Droga Club of Juan Sumulong High School joins the International Coastal Cleanup Drive on the Mall of Asia Bay side. This ICC is an annual event that takes place in various parts of the world where volunteers come together to collect and remove trash from coastlines, beaches, and waterways. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the consequences of pollution on the environment and the importance of preserving our coasts and oceans.

Other clubs and organizations like Juan Sumulong High School SSLG, Yes-O Club of Juan Sumulong, Interact Club, E-Library Club, and Juan Media, including the teachers who helped to clean the area assigned to JSHS.

This year’s coastal cleanup has been participated in by online and on-site volunteers totaling 16,293

Thousands of volunteers, including students, professionals, and employees, successfully collected 31,564 kilograms of non-biodegradable waste during the recent SM by the Bay coastal cleanup drive.

SM by the Bay and SM Mall of Asia are collaborating with DENR-NCR, International Coastal Cleanup Philippines, Pasay City CENRO, the Philippine Coast Guard, local governments, and SM Cares to raise awareness about coastal cleanliness.
