CERTIFICATE IN HOME EDUCATION - MODULE 6
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND SCHEDULE:
Module 6 โโ Home Education Goal Setting and Curriculum Planning -- August 18, 20, 22, 2025, 7:30-9:30pm
- Draw up the familyโs home education goal
- Planning and designing a developmentally appropriate Bible-based integrated curriculum for children at home
- Cultivating a child-centered and developmentally appropriate home environment
Learning Facilitators: Ms. Ces Nitafan and Dr. Grace Gaston-Dousel
Ms. Ces Nitafan is the Executive Director of Cornerstone Global Education and the
administrator of Better Together Homeschool International. Ms. Ces is a Harvard certified school manager and leader and is considered one of the experts in US Accredited homeschooling. She has been a Home Life Academy advocate since 2013, guiding families through her online talks and videos even before BTHI was established. Her heart has always been set in aiding families find the most suitable homeschool experience for them. She has helped many families achieve their homeschool goals leading to a number of homeschoolers thriving in college in the Philippines and abroad.
Dr. Grace Gaston-Dousel is the co-founder, president and executive director of Arrows & Quivers Family Development, Inc. which manages the Arrows & Quivers Homeschool. She obtained her BA Broadcast Communication and MA Education degrees from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She was recently conferred a PhD in Christian Education by the Covenant School of Ministry and Divinity, Oklahoma, USA. She is currently finishing her Doctor in Intercultural Studies degree from the Asia Graduate School of Theology in Manila. During the pandemic, she earned a Diploma in Home Education from the Centre of Excellence, Manchester, United Kingdom. She has been married to Goumang from Northeast India for 20 years and a homeschool mom to Lian Ed (now working) and Himig (now in Senior High School in Manila) from 2012 to 2024. Grace has been a mentor to homeschooling families for over ten years. Grace also tries to homeschool her 4 dogs.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Participants will be required to:
โข Write reflection papers that show how the principles learned will be applied in the participantโs context.
โข Participate in online small group and big group discussions.
โข Read assigned texts and study learning materials that will be provided in class.
โข Fulfill other requirements that may be assigned by the professors of each class.
COURSE FORMAT:
This course will be conducted as fully online synchronous sessions. It will be modular, held three times on weeknights (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) on a certain week of each month in consideration of participants who are working and based overseas. All requirements may be submitted at the end of the module via email to the professor on record.
