“Lazy Eye and Vision Stimulation Treatment”
AMBLYOPIA commonly called lazy eye, is a disorder of sight that can be best corrected by vision stimulation of the bad eye. Lazy eye results in decreased vision of an apparent normal eye because the brain does not receive visual signals from that eye for a long period of time, It also can occur when the brain "turns off" the visual processing of one
eye to prevent double-vision, for example in strabismus (crossed eyes or wall eye) due to extraocular muscles weakness. Amblyopia is common too in cases when the patient has anisometropia or antimetropia, in which the eye with high degree error of refraction suppresses its image to prevent seeing the double images produced by the 2 eyes. Occlusion therapy was the recommended treatment in the past but many patients were dissatisfied because it takes a while to see significant results. Advancement in technology through scientific research now shows that vision stimulation by light stimulus is the fastest approach in the treatment of Amblyopia or lazy eye. An initial clinical trial of an 8 year old child who had lazy eye of the right eye because of a divergent squint, after light stimulation of both eyes with eye exercises for 36 sessions had 20/20 visual acuity, precise visual perception, binocular alignment, fusion, and stereopsis (depth perception).
