No, we are “hinog”; but in a different way. We coped with the situation at hinirang nating matuto ng mga bagay na higit pa sa kung ano ang itinuturo sa atin.

Life has dealt us an interesting hand—a pandemic which irrevocably changed our lives. Particularly, it greatly affected our post-graduate internship, which we looked forward to as a time of learning through experiences, building our confidence as future doctors, and even forging solid ties with our colleagues. As Batch Hinirang, it seems as if we were chosen to experience our internship virtually, but regardless of our circumstances, we CHOSE to make the most out of it. We still learned, grew, and made lasting friendships.

This coming January 2021, the APMC-SN, together with the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST), will be conducting individual sessions on COVID-19, every Saturday, starting January 16, where participants may select multiple modules they would like to attend or that are relevant to them. ASSIST recently received a grant to roll out a COVID-19 response initiative to support our frontliners. Together with Project HOPE, an international healthcare nonprofit, they are launching this project as Saving the Lives of Healthcare Workers in the Philippines, which is divided into three strategies:

•Protect HCWs during health service delivery by distributing PPEs and other product needs.

•Roll-out of HCW training on COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Controls (IPC).

•Strengthen COVID-19 IPC at health facilities to suppress healthcare-associated infections.

Publicity materials will also be posted on the APMC-SN official page (facebook.com/StudentNetworkAPMC) for more details.
