A little food for thought.
In many areas of life — whether it's a beauty treatment, a car repair, or a tech service, etc — we rarely question the professional’s right to charge appropriately for their time, tools, and expertise. These services are often paid for in full, without request for discounts.
Yet, when it comes to medical professionals, it’s not uncommon for patients to negotiate fees or expect reduced rates — sometimes even after receiving vital care or life-saving treatment/s. And if the discount given is not as expected, you even take offense.
While it's understandable to be mindful of costs, it's equally important to recognize the value of a doctor’s time, training, and the responsibility they carry. Their work goes far beyond the surface — it’s often about protecting and preserving life itself. Yours. After all, your health — your life — is not less valuable than anything you own.
Asking for a discount is not inherently wrong. But let’s approach it with the same respect we offer other skilled professionals — if not more.
A doctor’s skill, time, and care are not less valuable just because the service doesn’t come with a product you can hold.
