Psychosocial Support and Children's Rights Resource Center (PST CRRC)

Psychosocial Support and Children's Rights Resource Center (PST CRRC) PST CRRC is committed to strengthening research and advocacy that upholds children’s rights and promotes psychosocial support for children.

The Psychosocial Support and Children’s Rights Resource Center (PSTCRRC) engages in research, documentation, publication, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, and advocacy that cut across the areas of childhoods, children’s rights, and psychosocial support. It traces its beginnings to the Psychosocial Trauma and Human Rights Program of the University of the Philippines’ Center for Integrative and Development Studies, a programme established in late 1994. In 2006, it became an independent center to fill the gap for a resource center on children’s rights in the Philippines and the Southeast Asian Region. PSTCRRC’s research program is integrative, holistic, policy-oriented, interdisciplinary, and participatory. It integrates theory and practice, and synthesizes thought and action by coming up with policy-relevant researches. It also embarks on holistic research by bringing its psychosocial, political, historical, and economic perspectives into its work. True to its interdisciplinary and participatory thrust, PSTCRRC brings together academics from different fields, field practitioners, direct service providers, and communities in all its researches. The PSTCRRC has done research, monitoring and evaluation work for various children-oriented and human rights organizations in assessing the soundness and appropriateness of the practices of these organizations in protecting children’s rights, and in upholding peace and human rights. Armed with theoretical and practical frameworks it has derived from its numerous researches and readings and with the experience of the staff members in direct practice, it has helped organizations in ensuring that their programs aptly address the needs of children, families and communities considering the contexts, resources and philosophy of the organization. PSTCRRC is composed of professionals who have extensive experience in research and training. It counts among its staff experts on qualitative and quantitative research methods, children’s issues, psychosocial support, community organizing and development, and creative (theater arts) training methodologies. PSTCRRC uses creative and participatory techniques in focus group discussions, workshops, and trainings. We also have a pool of competent and qualified researchers and enumerators to assist in gathering data.

The Child Rights Situation Analysis (CRSA) was conducted by the Psychosocial Support and Children’s Rights Resource Center for the Fundación Educación y Cooperación – Educo in the Philippines to guide its country programming by identifying the rights being enjoyed by Bicolano children, and the factors that promote or hinder them.

The CRSA involved an extensive review of primary and secondary data. Interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) among school children, teachers, parents, government workers were also conducted in nine (9) barangays in the provinces of Masbate (Masbate City, Claveria, San Pascual), Camarines Sur (Bato), Albay (Libon, Polangui), and Sorsogon (Pilar, Donsol, Castilla) from 2015 to 2017. The work was written by former Program Manager, Arnie Trinidad

Let's help children cope with adversity through play!

"The book provides a simple resource to support children and their families impacted by school closure by providing a meaningful context for children to talk about the current situation while nurturing their social-emotional development."

“Hope, Where Are You?” is a free children's book featuring the stories of six children around the world who are experiencing school closures. The LEGO Foundation has developed playful experiences based on the characters in the book.

"This guidance aims at supporting child protection actors working with communities to keep children safe to adapt their programming to the contagious environment of COVID-19. It builds upon Standard 17 in the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action and includes key actions and hyperlinks to additional resources, links and tips."

Infectious diseases like COVID-19 can disrupt the protective environments in which children grow and develop. Disruptions to families, friendships, daily routines and the wider community can have negative consequences for children’s well-being, development and protection.
