The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Section of Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, in partnership with the Philippine Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine, successfully hosted the Fellows’ Forum 4 last July 14, 2025 at B Hotel, Quezon City and via Zoom.

This session featured a rare and complex case of placenta accreta with fetal intracranial hemorrhage, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary expertise, ethical discernment, and patient-centered care in high-risk pregnancies.

With a total of 221 participants (155 online, 66 onsite), the forum showcased the active collaboration of fellows, consultants, and expert reactors in advancing maternal-fetal medicine practice.

Congratulations to our presenters, reactors, and moderator for an insightful and inspiring academic exchange.

Preeclampsia is a leading cause of illness and death in pregnant women, and our society works hard to address it. Every year, PSMFM celebrates World Preeclampsia Day every 22nd of May. NCR held theirs at the Ynares Sports Arena hosted by Rizal Medical Center. To arm our patients with an understanding of Preeclampsia, a maternal lay forum was held. And to encourage our patients to be active during pregnancy, we introduced Sayuntis (Sayaw ng buntis) created by Dr. Fay Cagayan, who gave us a live performance. This event was attended by 180 mothers who were engaged in the lecture and who danced the morning away. After lunch, to continue our service to the community, we held a free preeclampsia risk assessment clinic together with free ultrasound. This free clinic was made possible by maternal fetal medicine trainees and specialists from the different PSMFM training institutions. NCR program with Dr. Fay Cagayan teaching Sayuntis and the view from the stage.

The regions each did their own World Preeclampsia Day caravans around May 22, going from town to town, spreading awareness through lectures, free screening programs and games for the expecting mothers.
