Aachoo! Hello, mom-to-be! Flu season is still here. Mask up. Wash your hands. Boost your immune system!
Did you know that the flu or what we Filipinos call as “trangkaso” hits harder when you’re pregnant? Pregnancy changes the immune system, which make the mom-to-be more vulnerable to severe flu illness and complications that may land you in the hospital.
But remember, the flu shot is safe to get annually, even if you’re pregnant! Vaccination also protects your baby even after birth! And when in doubt, early consultation with your OB-Gyn and getting the right treatment can prevent serious outcomes.
Protect yourself and your baby. If you’re having flu symptoms, especially fever and difficulty breathing, don’t self-medicate and consult your OB-Gyn immediately.
