WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF GLAUCOMA?

Most cases of glaucoma have NO SYMPTOMS or very subtle symptoms, especially in the early stages. Vision loss in glaucoma starts at the edges of the visual field and occurs gradually, hence many of those living with glaucoma do not realize that there is a problem until they have lost a large area of their vision.
A small percentage of people with glaucoma may have episodes of:
blurring of vision;
✅ eye pain;
✅ eye redness;
✅ headache;
✅ nausea and vomiting;
✅ and seeing rainbows around lights.
Talk to your ophthalmologist for more information on the symptoms of glaucoma.

WAYS TO PROTECT YOUR CHILD’S EYES DURING ONLINE CLASSES
👁️ Use a timer to remind your child the 20-20-20 rule, to take a break every 20 minutes by focusing on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
👁️ Position the computer or tablet at eye level and about 18-24 inches from where your child is sitting.
👁️ Adjust screen brightness and contrast to a comfortable level.
👁️ Ensure the room has adequate lighting.
👁️ Let your child spend at least 2 hours outdoor to slow the progression of nearsightedness.
Bring your child to an eye doctor if he/she is complaining of eye pain due to excessive screen time.

WHAT is an OPHTHALMOLOGISTS?

Ophthalmologists are eye doctors with advanced medical and surgical training
An ophthalmologist is a medical or osteopathic doctor who specializes in eye and vision care. Ophthalmologists differ from optometrists and opticians in their levels of training and in what they can diagnose and treat.

Ophthalmologists complete 12 to 14 years of training and education including medical school and are licensed to practice medicine and surgery. This advanced training allows ophthalmologists to diagnose and treat a wider range of conditions than optometrists and opticians. Typical training includes a four-year college degree followed by at least eight years of additional medical and surgical training.

An ophthalmologist diagnoses and treats all eye diseases, performs eye surgery and prescribes and fits eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct vision problems. Many ophthalmologists are also involved in scientific research on the causes and cures for eye diseases and vision disorders. Because they are medical doctors, ophthalmologists can sometimes recognize other health problems that aren't directly related to the eye, and refer those patients to the right medical doctors for treatment.
