THE 7th PAVIC Parents Congress on Visual Impairment at Seda Hotel in MOA on 20-22 September 2024 was also a chance to see again the Hon. Senator Sherwin Gatchalian with whom I worked at the Phil. Congress for the passing of our Inclusive Education Act signed in 2022. Sen. Win is one of the most intelligent, dedicated, and honest senators we ever had who truly loves our country and our people. I am so proud to have known him.

We just concluded our Deafblind Day on the Hill organized by the National Family Association for Deafblind for April 16-18, 2024 in Washington, DC.
Totally exhausted after3 days of continuous meetings and endless walking to and from the different congressional offices around the Capitol. seeking support for the bipartisan bill Cogswell Macy Act (for best education of the blind, deaf, deafblind), and discussing federal/state policies and state plans to benefit deafblind childrena and adults. We essentially met with chiefs of staff/ aides since they are the ones who prepare the agenda and help set priorities for these politicians. We ended today with visits to the office of Ted Cruz, and Texas Rep. Troy Nehls. Very fruitful visit and practical learning, although these were basically what we also did in the Phil. for the Inclusive Education Act. The only difference is that we were able to actually see and talk with the supporting Senators and Congressmen who were more accessible through personal connections.
