The Philippine Veterinary Medical Association, represented by President Dr. Lina S. Policarpio and Secretary Dr. Pagasa Curaming, participated in the National Rabies Prevention and Control Committee (NRPCC) Inter-Agency Meeting held April 13, 2026, at the Animal Health Training and Information Center of the Bureau of Animal Industry.

During the meeting, updates on national rabies initiatives were shared, including PVMA’s “A Rabies-Free Future Starts with Me” Campaign, featuring the Nationwide Simultaneous Rabies Vaccination Day and Spay and Neuter Day. The session was led by Dr. Marie Shella Ordinario, Program Manager of the National Rabies Prevention and Control Program, to ensure continued coordination among agencies.

The University of the Philippines - Los Banos College of Veterinary Medicine held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Modernization of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Tabon.

This initiative is an important step as the VTH continues to be a provider of high-quality veterinary care to residents of Los Banos and nearby communities. Clinical work at the VTH has been both a curriculum requirement for companion and farm animal practice and a valuable mentorship experience for aspiring veterinarians aiming to establish their own practices locally or internationally.

The PVMA commits its full support to VTH as it continues to play an important role in promoting animal health and responsibile pet ownership!

Mass Spay & Castration Day initiative, led by PVMA, CPF, and PCMVLP

This initiative promotes responsible pet ownership, helps control pet overpopulation, and supports healthier communities for our animals.

📌 Registration for the mass spay and neuter ended last Monday, and all slots have already been filled.

📌 Important: Only pre-registered pets will be accommodated during the activity.

Protecting lives—both human and animal—takes more than a single effort. It takes a united community.

Last March 11, the Nationwide Simultaneous Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive brought together compassion in action, led by the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association, the Bureau of Animal Industry of the Department of Agriculture and the Provincial, City, and Municipal Veterinarians League of the Philippines, alongside countless partners, such as the Philippine Animal Hospital Association, the Department of Health, and the World Health Organization, across the country.

In line with Rabies Awareness Month, this initiative is a powerful reminder that prevention is possible—and that a rabies-free Philippines is within reach when we work as one.

To our veterinarians, local government units, private sector partners, and responsible pet owners—maraming salamat po. Your commitment protects communities, saves lives, and brings us one step closer to a safer, healthier nation.

A very timely news item! We must however, remain vigilant and keep sustaining our efforts to reach our target of Zero deaths due to dog bites by 20230! Once again, we encourage all pet parents to join the nationwide simultaneous rabies vaccination tomorrow March 11 and March 19 for nationwide simultaneous spay & neuter drive! Check out if the vet clinic near you is also joining this initiative!

Seventeen rabies cases have been recorded from January 4 to February 21, 2026, which is lower compared to the 49 cases logged in the same period last year, according to the Department of Health. https://tinyurl.com/y6u5hf38

QC Pet Parents, there will be a Rabies Vaccination on March 11, 2026 at the Dept. of Agriculture Gymnasium.

This is part of the Nationwide Simultaneous Rabies Vaccination drive happening on the same date. Fur parents, check with your respective LGUs for exact locations. There are participating vet clinics and hospitals as well!
