"Pandemic Prodigal Patients"

Even though we were open May of 2020, some of our dental patients started coming back in 2021 only. Most were generally okay but those who got stuck watching Netflix and eating sweets/junk food came back with a vengeance.

One of our patients has 7 medium size cavities 🙁! In contrast, the past decades she hardly had any. Others needed RCT🙁 or we needed overhauling again. Conversely, those who came back earlier had less problems. I think about 4 of our patients died during the pandemic.

This patient just came back after 4 years (since 2019). He has beautiful teeth very little cavities and no real pain. But that's the problem with Periodontal (gum) problems- there's little or no pain. The germs slowly and quietly destroy the gums and bones around the tooth with their phoo and p*e.

His calculus is very hard and tenaciously on the teeth. He has gingivitis and a lot of pus in his gums around the molar and canine 🥵. This is despite the use of electric toothbrush 😐.

Bottom line is everyone needs to see a dentist for check ups and professional cleaning at least every 6 months. Actually some need it every 4 months or sooner.

Prevention is always cheaper, easier and better than correction 😁. Although it is not as dramatic.
