The Capacity Building Training for Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) Staff deepened participantsโ understanding of the vital link between mental health, psychosocial well-being, and child protection.
Held on ๐ข๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ญ, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฑ, at the SB Hall, Quezon City General Hospital, this one-day learning event empowered 142 BCPC representatives to respond with compassion, competence, and care to children facing abuse, neglect, or trauma โ while also highlighting the importance of self-care and resilience among responders.
This meaningful activity was made possible through the expertise of QC Protection Centerโs Ms. Marie Louise Lipnica, RPm, and Ms. Joceline Basconcillo, RSW, together with esteemed guest speakers Ms. Maricon Conde, RPm, Psychometrician from the National Center for Mental Health, and Ms. Jhoanne Mae C. Toriaga, RPsy, Ph.D. (cand.), Chair of the Psychology Programs at Mapรบa University, and was successfully led and guided by Ms. Janete R. Oviedo, MPA, Officer-in-Charge of the QC Protection Center.
Participants deepened their understanding of the interrelatedness of mental health and psychosocial issues among children, identified the effects of abuse and disasters on childrenโs well-being and development, strengthened their capacity in providing appropriate responses and referrals, and promoted self-care practices for resilience and sustainable service delivery among BCPC workers.
