What NOT to Say to Those Suffering from Depression:
❌I know how you feel / Don't generalize, treat every case of depression as unique
❌Get over it / This is simply insensitive to say
❌I would be devastated if you were gone / Don't make this about you, their struggle is just as valid
❌Other people have it worse, you’re being selfish / Do not trivialize someone's struggle
❌Stay positive, you have a lot to live for / Pushing toxic positivity may lead to someone feeling guilty over natural depresison
If you or your organization want to build skills to better communicate and support those suffering from depression, contact us at our email: info@renewhealthph.com.

Philippine Statistics on Su***de

- According to the DOH, su***de attempt rates increased by 150% from 2013 to 2021.

- Men typically aged 15-24 are 4x more likely to commit su***de than women.

- On average, 40 Filipinos commit every month

- One-in-five young Filipinos aged between 15 to 25 years old have considered ending their life.

7.5% of Filipino youths (1.5M) had attempted su***de in 2021,

- 404 students died by su***de between 2021 to 2022, with 2,147 attempts in the same period

This is a global health issue. Part of the SDG 3 is that by 2030, governments reduce by one-third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment, and promote mental health and well-being. This includes reducing rates of su***de.

Join in the fight toward decreasing su***de rates.

If your or your organization want to help in decreasing the rates of su***de in our country, contact us via email: info@renewhealthph.com.

The Three Stigmas of Mental health

👥Public stigma involves the negative or discriminatory attitudes that others may have about mental illness.

🪞Self-stigma refers to the negative attitudes, including internalized shame, that people with mental illness may have about their own condition.

🏛️Structural stigma is more systemic, involving policies of government and private organizations that intentionally or unintentionally limit opportunities for people with mental illness. Examples include lower funding for mental illness research or fewer mental health services relative to other health care.

If you or your organization want to help break the stigmas against mental health, let's collaborate! Contact us at: info@renewhealthph.com.

What is self-compassion? 🫂

Self-compassion is a positive attitude we can have towards ourselves, and it’s also an empirically measurable construct.

Having self-compassion is acknowledging the mistakes you’ve made and or having the humility to recognize shortcomings. Doing this allows yourself space to grow and reach out for help.

Self-criticism is good but not to the point of endless self-doubt or believing you have no dignity worth valuing.

It is always better to love than to shame, even to yourself.

If you or your organization want to build self-compassion, let's collaborate! Contact us at: info@renewhealthph.com.
